I take it
this was not your comment to the article:
oh great,Time to ruin our goalie of the future,he needs a lot more time, plus hes on a slider rule contract, why start his NHL career before hes ready,so he can become an unrestricted free agent earlier, not to mention hes been playing like Dung and his ego needs to be taken down a lot before he makes the next step,He was a back up for the Swedish Junior team a week ago and hes gonna be our starter !
give me a break
Fire Murray,Keep Clouston,finish last and Re-build please!
According to Marakh (I think?) Sweden always plays their backup in a Bronze Medal game. Lehner did not play, so what does that mean? I don't know, but if not for a blown call by the lineseman Lehner would have been playing for the Gold.
This move has Melnyk written all over it. I was suspecting it might happen and, frankly, I'm OK with it. Let's see what the kid has. No pressure, the season is done. Elliott should be worried, though. Next year he's either backing up Lehner or Lehner is backing up someone else. In other words, Lehner has to absolutely shine or absolutely stink for Elliot to still have a roster spot next season. If Lehner is just OK to be the backup next season, he won't be backing up Elliott.
Back to this being a "Melnyk move" -- Clouston announcing the starter a day early is a definite clue to that. And if he is not allowed to make starting goalie decisions any more, does anyone really think his contract will be extended?
