Don't u love how other teams can make trades to turn around a sinking ship (like wisniewski for mtl) yet Murray can't do Jack squat....embarrassing that we have to deplete our farm team of their best players

I guess we'll see.

Our team and defence suck, he's going to get lit up.

I guess we'll see how ready and mature he is, he hasn't really faced AHL shooters much and he hasn't exactly dominated down there.

I just don't like tossing him in like that because the team is desperate. It'd be one thing if we were doing well and they just wanted to give him a taste.

Lehner knows what's going on here, regardless of what CC and Murray tell him when they arrive.

Lehner plays great and wins - good for Lehner, bad for draft
Lehner gets shelled and loses - bad for Lehner, good for draft.

Lehner's going to have to play well and the team will still have to lose for this to be a good move.

Bah... listening to the guy in interviews(Lehner), I don't think 10 straight losses in front of an awful team will take away any of his abilities.
He's like Karlsson attitude-wise. Maybe it's a swedish thing.

This makes me scratch my head a bit though... are they sending someone down? or is a trade for picks coming?

Timing is weird for sure. We don't play tomorrow, so making the call-up tonight is a bit of a strange decision.

Maybe Lehner is going to be the next GM and Locke the new head coach Laugh1

Except that Lehner does not have enough experience as a backup to get promoted to GM Sarcasm

Just hover around .905 and I'm happy, the GAA and losses I don't care about.

Perhaps to draw attention away from how awful the team was? Make the stories about Locke finally getting a shot with the Sens and about Lehner being called up? Maybe to show the fans the Sens are doing "something"?

I don't really know. I'm just speculating.

Maybe to tell the vets on this team that a 165-lbs career AHLer and a 19 year old goalie are a better choice to put on the ice than this sorry bunch?

Lehner may lose a few games here, but at least there won't be any undue pressure on him. If he does lose, nothing really changes, and people won't really blame him, since that's what we were doing before he got here. If he does go .500 or something, then it's considered a resounding success. It's not like the team is thinking he'll turn this ship around.

As for Locke, same deal. No undue pressure.

I think there's a tonne of pressure on Locke. He's 26 now and has only had 4 games at the NHL level and Ottawa seems to not really care about his development. Locke has this chance to try to make or break his career IMO. If he doesn't light it up and damn quick he probably won't get another opportunity with the Sens.

Yeah, I agree that there is still a bunch of pressure on Locke, but what I meant was that he doesn't have to feel like if he screws up, costs us a game, whatever, that he is hurting the team (i.e. ruining playoff chances). There's always lots of pressure on call-ups, but in this case, the pressure to not mess up a winning team isn't there.

Gotta say, I'm not a fan of bringing Lehner up in this crap situation. Not a good environment to be in. This is a futile move...

I hope it's not a desperation move to save the season. My guess is it's a dress rehearsal for all the prospects and nothing more.

I think they're just trying to spark something, anything out of the players... they look listless and deflated out there... not good at all. This is far worse than anything we've seen before.

Or perhaps some players are on their way out?
