Exactly. Forward thinking. Looks like too much right now, but will be a deal 2 years from now, if not sooner. If you really believe in your young players, follow the Filppula model, BM!

Again, why is Foligno seem like the forgotton guy here?
17 goals in 08-09
9 goals in 09-10 with a freakin broken leg

only 22 years old.

Regin 13 goals. 24 years old

I agree Regin could be good but do you walk away from Foligno to keep Regin? I'm not sure i'm on that wagon yet.

Foligno, Zubov, Campoli, Regin, Kinrade and Bass are all RFA's, if anyone's curious.

True... but I think he's still technically property of the Sens in the NHL isn't he?

Yeah, well... I'm sure the Sens organization owns garbage cans too that the don't plan on making qualifying offers to. I'm guessing that Zubov is long since dead in the eyes of Sens management.

No, he's coming off his ELC. Arbitration is (from what I understand) only for players who have already served their ELC and then have once again become RFA. So a guy that plays his 3 year ELC, then another 3 year deal would have arbitration rights in after year 6, because he's an RFA not coming off a rookie deal.

Regin and Campoli headed for arbitration

Peter Regin has 3 more years before he can become an unrestricted free agent while Chris Campoli has 2. The Sens have the option of insisting that a 2 year contract be awarded by the arbitrator.

Regin is coming off a decent rookie season followed by a short but impressive playoff where he saw increased minutes due to the injuries to Michalek and Kovalev.

Campoli played his best hockey of the season after the Olympic break but has yet to become the player Bryan Murray thought he was getting when he traded a late first round pick to the Islanders during the 2008-09 season.

Courtesy of http://proicehockey.about.com, here is a list of what is allowed to be used during arbitration:

# The player's "overall performance" including statistics in all previous seasons.
# Injuries, illnesses and the number of games played.
# The player's length of service with the team and in the NHL.
# The player's "overall contribution" to the team's success or failure.
# The player's "special qualities of leadership or public appeal."
# The performance and salary of any player alleged to be "comparable" to the player in the dispute.

What is not allowed to be used:
# The salary and performance of a "comparable" player who signed a contract as an unrestricted free agent.
# Testimonials, video and media reports.
# The financial state of the team.
# The salary cap and the state of the team's payroll.

Based on points here are few recent com-parables for Regin:

Benoit Pouliot - 1.375m
Jay McClement - 1.450m
Dustin Boyd - .650m

Also just based on points and ice time here are a couple com-parables for Campoli:

Johnny Boychuk - 1.875m
Roman Polak - 1.1m

I don't understand what Regin and Campoli stand to gain in arbitration. Regin's career high is 29 points and Campoli's an adequate seat warmer until Cowen or Wiercioch come in and ask him to GTFO.

Most likely is Murray lowballing them. Regin's agents are out to lunch. Campoli probably gets 1.3-1.7 in arbirtration.

Arbitration means no offer sheets, so it's not necessarily a bad thing.

I'm think maybe Regin saw to many fans at Scotiabank Place dressed as Vikings, chanting his name.

They were loud during the playoffs and Regin sure deserved the recognition. He played amazing.

Still not gonna get ya more than 1.5 in my opinion. Even though I don't think it will make it to the arbitrator.

I'd be happy signing him to 3 years, $4.5. That is my guess. A little low, but that's my guess.

A longer term and the average salary may go up to $2.25 per.

Damn, I was hoping Regin wasn't eligible.

i don't think regin goes to arbitration, from what i have heard it can get kinda nasty and egos bruised. if we want to keep regin we overpay slightly and move forward.

4 years 8 million.
