You could have the Gudbranson bros on the blueline in 5 years, draft his brother Alex.

With Weiss and the 3rd you would need to give up 16, same goes for Brassard and the 4th. Even then I doubt that would be enough.SpezDispenser wrote:I'm telling you, if this trade doesn't have Weiss and Ballard, or Weiss and the 3rd overall or Brassard and the 4th or Brassard and Filtov, I'm not gonna be pleased.
I assume those are the two packages, or close to it. I don't want no Fat Penner, Cogliano, 31st overall bull****, then I'll be MIGHTY pissed.

top four is pretty jaw-dropping. And getting Brassard + Filatov or Brassard and keeping our first round pick would allay some of my fears about our future offence.
I'm just not sure I envision that calibre of return. Last off-season we were all speculating/proposing Frolov, Teubert and LA's first rounder (Schenn) for Heatley, and while we did get a solid upgrade on Frolov in Michalek, the rest of that package didn't exactly materialize.
BDP/DMJ said the Sens were waiting on a second round pick to be added to the deal (presumably to draft Bennett or J. Larsson, if you believe his other scoops). In that case, if it is indeed Columbus, it's probably Brassard plus a defenceman plus the 34th. Which is OK, I guess, but still a deal where we lose from a hockey perspective.

Maybe Weiss/Horton and the 3rd overall and their 2nd rounder for Spezza and 16 overall and Foligno.

Why, there was that Rangers/Islanders trade, why can't we trade (although it's an arse thing to do)?
RobbyJ wrote:If he gets moved my guess is it's one of 3 teams.
Columbus - Murray and Howson have dealt before.
Edmonton - They've shown serious interest in Spezza before
Florida - Tallon could make the big splash that the market needs.
Longshot - St. Louis. It doesn't seem like their style but they are close to being very competitive, they have tons of cap space and assets.
