Meh, we'll see. I dont mind that deal so much because BAcklund def could be a star one day. I would think Nemisz would have to be involved too.

That deal actually has the potential to be an absolute grand slam for Ottawa though. If J Bo rounds into form then you have a real legit, number 1 D man signed for a long time and takes the pressure off a lot of guys.

So unrealistically fearful that J-Bo and Backlund are not good enough to hang your hat on for Jason Spezza.

I think the smart way to go would be with Brassard, but the short term fix and putting together a competitive team might be that J Bo deal. Seriously, people talk the EXACT same way people talk about J bo, all the potential in the world and hasnt come close to reaching it yet.

Backlund >>>>> Lee, no doubts there. J Bo vs Spezza, IMO it's pretty close... prob give the edge to Spezza but Calgary is way more desperate to make a deal then Ottawa is, Sutter has to save face.

Ugh, Bouwmeester is so soft. And that's saying something considering Spezza's in the thread's title.

Backlund is pretty significantly better than Lee, though.

No like. We can get Campbell for a much lesser price. Backlund...is a nice piece, but for Spezza, with no high pick coming. I have a ton of reservations.

Don't do it would be my advice to Murray right now. Don't do it.

Seriously, if that J Bo deal goes through and he's back in The East where he was a legit number 1 D man and Backlund turns into anything resembling a number 1 center... Ottawa just hit a home run.

Look at that mess of a Calgary team. Iginila is being questioned too so take what J Bo did there with a grain of salt. I think that deal is about as close in value as u can get and favours Ottawa.

I would take that deal of the other one no problem, haha, and I liked the other deal. If that's what Ottawa actually gets back, Jesus... Ottawa adds a potential number 1 center and winger along with a potential 40-50 point D man. Get that doooooone.
