Carolina had Rod Brindamour as their 2nd line center when he was playing out of his mind. Just an FYI, so them winning wasn't a fluke.

There you go. Not a super star, just a very nice player who was playing fantastic hockey.

I know he was never a marquee guy, but he was vastly underrated for a very long time, and still is, as an offensive weapon.

About as complete a player as you will find. In Philly he was over shadowed by the legion of doom and Lindros. Fisher will never put up those kind of numbers.

There's a difference between Spezza's inconsistencies (although they are there) and Fisher's.

Im not disagreeing, Im just saying you cant say use one arguement to support one guy then use the same arguement to trash another.
Spezza is inconsistant in his efforts, which IMO is worse then being inconsistant on the score sheet.

We've had our fair share of Spezza talk. I think it comes down to him not knowing how to play without the puck. I know it sounds ridiculous because he's at the highest level, but growing up coaches let him do his thing because he could fill the net. Once he got to the NHL he's only ever had Murray, Paddock and Hartsburg and none of the guys gives the impression that they preached a defence first game. I think that's why I'm excited to see what Spezza can do under Clouston, and no matter what some people say, I haven't been dissapointed thus far.
Anyways, back on topic.
Fisher is a great player who always gives his all, no doubt about it. But fair or not this guy id being paid to be an offensive leader on this team and he just isn't. The guy is a lot of things, and can be a barn burner at the best of times, but just isn't consistent enough offensively to be counted on. In those respects he's been a huge dissapointement.
N4L wrote:Haha, ok, yet you use a 28 game stretch to say "Spezza was on pace for". Seriously, pick an arguement and stick to it because you use one thing for one guy and then the same thing against another.

Was he supposed to rack up the points from the IR?
