Only a lot better.
No he isnt, haha. Sharp is a very nice player and perhaps a little better then Fisher, but it's minimal to say the least.

Andy McDonald was Anaheim's. Carolina won by accident and Sharp is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Fisher.
N4L wrote:Andy McDonald was number 1. Getzlaf was 20 years old and not even close to being the player he is today. Call Carolina an accident but they still won and managed to do it with a solid team.
Pitts wouldnt have won without those 3 because they have nothing else. It's like saying NJ wouldnt have won without Neidamayer, Stevens, and Danyko, well no Dung.
Sharp is not waaaaaaay better then Fisher, they are very, very similar.

Depending on your needs I guess. Sharp's better at everything except checking. And Getzlaf was on fire against us, he was as dominant as Toews and Richards are today.

I simply replied to someone who said he gets to 75 points and makes it look easy... well he hasnt done it in two years so how is that statement have any merit at all?
Spezza's other issue is staying healthy and he can not play through pain or injury, this year was a perfect example of that. When he's healthy in the regular season, he's tough to stop, probably a top 5 center in that aspect. I wont deny it nor will I ignore it. I also wont ignore the fact that when games get tougher, the compition level gets higher, Spezza either shy's away or becomes totally irresponsible on the ice... that's basically playoff hockey and that offensive tallent he has, a lot of it gets thrown out the window because he gets warn down and out worked by the other team.
The bolded part is BS, I look at the most important things in terms of the actual team and the actual games played. Game 52 of the regular season isnt as important as game 4 at home in the playoffs. The team game Spezza struggles with and has for a long time, there is no evidence that is changing at a pace that will turn The Sens into a contender anytime soon.

But Spezza did pretty well in the playoffs except for the one blowout game where he was pretty awful but he was a major factor in both wins and he set up Regin for a couple crucial goals. If Crosby doesn't absolutely go crazy then I think they would have won the series and Spezza would have been looked at a lot differently.
Spezza isn't Crosby though and he's not the perfect #1 center, I'll agree there but there aren't many guys that are better and I just feel it would be a major step back to trade him now. Without him we lose a big chunk of offense and combined that with an already mediocre defense and we're a bubble team at best next season. Part of me remembers when Bonk was our #1 center and I really don't want to have a similar thing happen again.
N4L wrote:No he wasnt, not even close. Getzlaf was in his rookie season after a very similar season to what Fisher had. Point being is there were no star centers playing behind the number 1's. There are very few teams that get by on just having power up the middle, Pitts was exposed this year for it and teams tended to figure it out, even Ottawa did but it was too late.
Pitts wont be winning without a Gonchar back there while Malkin checks out when he feels like it. Philly and Chicago are basically the two teams that are built to win now and in the playoffs and they are exactly where they should be.
N4L wrote:Im not saying he was Fisher, but it isnt Malkin either.

There you go. Not a super star, just a very nice player who was playing fantastic hockey.
