I wonder if Wick will ever crack this lineup

Who knows? Wick had a good Olympics but is he really going to be a top 6 guy? I doubt it.

Hmmm, what about this scenario. Columbus NEEDS to make the playoffs next year, and Nash NEEDS a center. What if:

To Columbus: Spezza, Lee
To Ottawa: Umburger, Moore, Filatov, Columbus 1st round pick (4th overall).

Too much? Not enough? Too bad Hitch isn't the coach anymore otherwise this would have been a guarantee.

I'm an anti-trade Spezza guy, this offer intrigues me though. Can't see Columbus offering up the whole farm like that though ....

I would say Brassard instead of Umberger and that would be close. Who knows though. I still think The Sens may very well try and build from within and continue to build Spezza. Like it or not (i dont) Spezza may very well be here for the long haul.

I think a fair deal would simply be Spezza for Umberger and Filatov and I would be happy with Umberger. I just find hard to imagine they would deal a Buckeye star when they are trying to sell seats.

I still say the simplest solution is to support and insulate Spezza with a legitimate, consistent secondary threat.

I agree... I don't have a crush on Spezza but he gets you points... pick up Marleau and then we'll be talking.

Regin is that threat and he proved it, but it didnt help Spezza's game. So who do you put on that right side? Foligno isnt good enough to be there if you are looking for a player to make Spezza better. Michalek? Maybe. Kovalev? Probably not.

At some point Spezza has to put it on himself to take the next step, if he's waiting for Heatley or another 40 goal guy to play that left side, keep waiting. Only player that you could possibly get in Boyes, that's it.

Whole farm? From the sounds of it Filatov was not happy in Columbus which perhaps stemmed further than Hitch. I just can't see him playing in Columbus. He's unproven, undersized, yet he still has potential.

Umburger does not even compare to Spezza, and Moore for Lee evens that part out. maybe if they exchanged 1sts this would be more likely. I just have no idea what Spezza's worth is to other teams.

Filatov is the guy to avoid at all costs right now. Him bolting to Russia after not being able to get along with the coach is bad news. The fact that he's done jack Dung in the NHL is bad news.

Talk to me when he's completed 2 NHL seasons and has consistently put up numbers, then he can be the 'be all to end all' of prospects. Until then there are tons of other guys I'd place ahead of him.

my point exactly. he's unproven but has a chance the ability to be the 'be all end all'

That would be two 6th over-all picks, a 4th over-all pick and a mid-first-rounder.

Yeah, I'm going to doubt Columbus parts with that much.

I don't think his attitude is all that bad. He learned English at a young age and has worked hard to try to make the NHL.

Plus, he is unproven only because Hitchock never played him in his limited amount of NHL game so far in his career. He scord a hat trick in his 6th game in the NHL, in under 10 minutes of ice time no less.

A lot of the offers I have seen around here are clear cut favourites for Ottawa and outright fantasy.

For the negative comments and all out hate Spezza receives from a lot of the fans around here he sure has a lot of value according to these offers. Hard to imagine someone who "lacks heart" is "selfish" is a "turnover king" and etc could have so much value elsewhere with that amazing testimonial.

If you are going to deal Spezza to Columbus and want Filitov and the 4th overall pick you'll probably need to eat a contract like Husselius and throw in a good prospect. I still feel like Edmonton/Atlanta are the likely landing spots should Spezza get moved. Return would have to include similar salary coming back due to Edmonton's cap and Atlanta's budget.

Ya, who knows. Whether he gets traded or he doesnt, I dont think either woud be a huge shock. It basically all depends on Murray's evaluation of Spezza.
