Ottawa is lacking star power up front.
Any team trading for Spezza will not offer star power back.
Ottawa is not rebuilding, so will expect star power.

That is why nothing will happen and we will go into next season with Jason Spezza pencilled in as our first line center. Obviously there's more, but that's the simplest way of breaking it down.

Depends, the blueline is defently being rebuilt considering 3 rookies plus Lee might see time on that blueline next year for 5 plus game stretches. The goaltending, well if that might be more fixing something that was hanging on some hinges.

Up front, I dont think Spezza helps this team as much as others do, but he doesnt hurt it, just that turnover in the playoffs is almost unforgivable, that stuff has to stop. There is high risk, then there is stupidity. Having Spezza in the regular season next year, IMO, they run away with division and we see 100 pt year from Ottawa.

Anyone heard Doug McLean comparing Yzerman to Spezza this morning? Interesting...

BUT (this ones for N4L)

Spezza is a point a game man in the playoffs-Yzerman is not.

Stand back, he's gonna explode

Most overrated Canadian forward ever. He's okay but I will never understand why he was ever put in a conversation about best player in the league.

I don't at all think Iginla is overrated. He's a hard working player, a great leader, and is a great player.

Although, I do not think Iginla is someone the Sens need. They have an older leader, they don't need one now. They need younger guys!

Nah, you can't make the bait *too* obvious, like that.

I don't know, that was pretty good. Pretty masterful if you ask me. Seems like he's quite the Master Baiter.

If Spezza is traded, what are the chances we could rip Tampa Bay off again?

Like Spezza for St. Louis, Stamkos and their first or something ridiculous. (read: Meszaros trade nonsense)

Tampa is going to go full out rebuild. Hedman, Stamkos, and Downie are all untouchable IMO, everyone else is fair game. They wouldnt take on Spezza though, no shot.

Only places Spezza could land IMO are Atlanta, Florida, Edmonton, Nashville, St.Louis, or COlumbus. Even then I dont think he gets dealt even though I wish sometimes they could get something of equal value back, but they probably wont.

To make myself feel better I just say The Sens wont be hurt if Spezza is here and sometimes the devil you know is better then the one you dont. People could be very right in saying you wont find another player to replace Spezza. Personally, that's not how I see it nor do I think Spezza is irreplacable as others seem to think but he defently could be the difference between home ice/winning the division and squeeking in like they did this year. Either way The Sens are a playoff team.

Only thing that drives me mental is when I hear "Spezza is the future captain" or "Spezza is this teams best player". Both those comments are just wishful thinking.

Anyways, hopefully Murray can find gems like he did with Getzlaf and Perry in 03. I think Foligno and Lee do get moved before anyone else.

I would thank the HOckey gods for just one of Getzlaf or Perry clones.

Lee I could care less about (finally, haha) but I don't want to see Foligno moved. Kid's got a great attitude and work ethic and he's shown flashes of being an absolute beast in the offensive zone with his size, board-work and hands. I don't think the inconsistency and lack of defensve accumen are at all rare for a player of his youth (and actually he was a terrific defensive player for Sudbury, sort of like a Rick Nash for the Wolves) and given the shallowness of our forward prospect pool, I would much rather be extremely patient with him. Kid scored 17 goals as a 21-year-old; that's not too shabby.

I agree but he did fall out of favour with Clouston this year, he's an RFA, and he wasnt Murray' draft pick. I think The Sens should be patient with him if they can.

Now, I dont think he ever becomes anything more then a 20 goal guy. I just dont think he had the size to be a big time producer based on the game he plays. That's just my opinion of him.

Good to see that you have jumped of that Lee bandwagon, still a couple guys on it but for the most it's empty. He isnt anything more then a 5, 6 D man on hisvery best day.
