Well it's 4 on 4 and he's the fastest skating defenseman they've got. It's almost like playing with a 4th forward but he's quick enough to get back and start skating backwards at his blue line.

No he was right it was 3 on 3, both teams a player in the box. Other then that bang on analyst

Sorry, I wasn't trying to correct him. I actually meant more when Karlsson started the OT. It makes sense because int hat situation (4 on 4) with more room out there you want your fastest players (and I *really* cannot explain why Martin had Gill out there). So when it was 3-on-3 it makes it even more important to have speed out there.

Diddle.

Geez, that's what I thought too. A few days ago another player took a puck and broke his fibula, and when I saw the replay of Foligno I swwear I had a flashback.

Well, we've got Dono and Winch licking their lips now.

Winchester for sure gets back into the lineup. I suspect Regin moves up to take Foligno's spot on his line.

Erik Karlsson's hockey IQ is on the same level if not higher than Daniel Alfredsson's which is saying something.

I agree, Karlsson was standout. Far and away our best offensive D at the moment. Looking more confident and creating more each and every day.

Someone earlier in the thread said maybe too confident? As long as he has the wheels to make up for his mistakes I'm good with that.

About time we had a defenseman with some verve and spunk to him. This team hasn't EVER had a defenseman like him. That's a fact. And it's not a coincidence that this team is playing the best hockey in several years now that he's contributing at his current capacity.

That's good though, that means fans are coming back. Does it have anything to do with the winning? Sarcasm

Really? Why? The kid is 19 years old and understands the game at a higher level than almost anyone on this roster. How is that going a little far?

Neely's whole point is that scoring isn't everything, and that people who think Spezza is "elite" and "essential to this team" spend too much time reading stats and not enough time watching games.

Try again. Smile

I challenge you to find someone who thinks Spezza is elite in here.

His hockey IQ is off the charts for sure, but at the same time, he doesn't have the 15 years experience that Alfredsson has, the ability to read certain plays at the NHL level and react ahead of time, the knowledge of where to go to dodge a hit. Everything that Karlsson has - plus tidbits of knowledge picked up from playing at the highest level in the world for 15 years.

My question would be, will Karlsson ever have the hockey IQ of Alfredsson? It looks like he might - and that would make him the most killer D-man in a few years.

His offensive game is talked a lot, but kid's taken the puck from a MTL player I don't know how many times today, against PIttsburg, Boston...

Really? People think Karlsson's hockey IQ is on par or higher than Daniel Alfredsson's?

Well, you see, IQ is calculated relative to age, so if a 19-year-old got the same score as a 37-year-old he'd be off the charts above him.

If Hockey-IQ is calculated in a similar way (not age, of course, but years of experience at an elite level).
