On another note, what an important game coming up on Saturday. I'm guessing Brodeur will be starting....he must! GAME DAY: Ottawa Senators @ New York Rangers - 7:00pm ET - Thu. Jan. 14th, 2010 - Page 19 805406

I believe instead he should simply be annointed as The 'Daug'

Yep. At 3:25 and at 11:44 of the 1st.

Sweet. Saw that in the boxscore just didnt know if it was an error or not. Should they not both have been kicked out? Isnt 2 fighting majors in one game an ejection?

It's 3 fights and you're out.

oh ok

That game was so awesome to be on the winning side of. Must have been horrendous to be on the losing side, but at least you wake up tomorrow and Henrik Lundqvist is your goalie.

Best, most complete Sens game I've seen in about a month, and I'd be saying that even if we went to a shootout and lost. We were the better team by a long shot and deserved that win. If it's any other goalie than Lundqvist, that game is 3 or 4 nothing.

Smart, simple hockey. We were aggressive, hitting (finally) and turning pucks over all night. We were really strong defensively, limiting chances largely to the outside. We were disciplined, only taking 2 penalties. And best of all, we stuck with it, even after so many just-missed opportunities. Well done.

Can't think of any guys who actually looked bad out there, but here's my list of standouts (in order): Kovalev, Brodeur, Karlsson, Smith, Campoli, Carkner -- and Daugavins. That fourth line looked really good; they must have played a good 8-10 minutes for us and only got pinned in their own end once. Smith is playing with this team next year, no questions, I'd say. He's looked great the whole time he's been up, and he brings a little of everything.

Solid road win for the boys. Nice to see Ottawa Bingo Bingawa pull out a gutsy win.

Brodeur should be the chance to run with the ball. His positioning is outstanding. He just gets in the way of everything. No need for highlight reel saves when you are positioned well.

Yep, bang on. I also noticed two times that Z.Smith went head to head vs Gaborik and he battled through both times. One time specifically he won a board battle vs Gaborik - who was polled as the hardest forward to defend in THN a year or so back. As you say, smart, simple hockey and they all stuck with it. Very pleased.

There's just so much more to discuss after a loss, especially a bad loss. Who stunk, who had a good game, who should be benched, who should be traded immediately.

Not really a whole lot to say about tonight's game except that it was a very good road effort and Brodeur really shined. Impressive considering some of the vomit inducing stinkers we've seen recently.

Also loved that. Enjoyed how he appeared to stand up to the shots instead of always resorting to going down. Looked real big and solid in there.

One of the best parts of this game for me was Kypreos in the 2nd intermission praising Brodeur saying let him keep playing, especially if the other guys aren't man enough to suck it up through a headache and a cold.

One of the other panelists shot back: "This coming from a guy who retired due to head injuries????"

Classic! Eat Dung, Kypreos.

He was a vaccuum tonight from what I saw. He just sucks up the puck. Makes the job on our shaky defense so much easier as opposed to Leclaire who looks to me like he's got no confidence in the defense or himself, and as a result is too often caught out of position.

Mike Brodeur just became my new favorite Ottawa Senator after this quote:

“I love tough games,” said Brodeur. I love when the score is tied in
tight games. If you’re a goalie and you don’t like tight games, you
picked the wrong career. It was a great effort. A great team effort.
This was huge.”

Great stuff. It would be a minor miracle if Brodeur played like this for even one more game, but it's really nice for him - and for us - right now.

Brodeur is now 2-0 with a 0.50 GAA and .980 save% with 1 SO.

Could you imagine if we had a goaltender playing consistently like that?

I had a feeling we might win after the Kelly goal.
