Phaneuf is worse and is no much better on the scoring sheet, paid as much.
Of course Jbo is overpaid, he was a UFA signing. Doesn't mean he's not good or that CAlgary could have found a better player at that price.

Bottom line, the team is pretty good and is deep at all positions.

ok, back with a couple of interesting ones that even if they come from ESPN, smell like smoke....

Avs looking to trade Liles, others
The Colorado Avalanche are trying to get rid of some guys.
i bet there's a few teams interested, maybe other struggling players going the other way. things seasmed to have worked out on both sides in the smith trade.
Rangers trading for Cogliano?
A trade might be close between the Rangers and Oilers.
old news, i think it's NYR trying to get rid of contracs, maybe higgins?

Sharks may struggle after Olympics
The Sharks might struggle after the Olympics, with 15 players in the games.
in the rumour section but really, i put it in as hopeful predictions.
Sens may trade for Pitkanen
The Ottawa Senators may be eying this 26-year-old defenseman.
interesting... i don't know much about him but i'm amazed i found a sens rumour on ESPN...

Pitkanen would be good for sure, but for who? I don't really wanna see Foligno go for Pitkanen, but I guess it would be him and SJ's 2nd.

Souray has been linked to the Caps by a few rumour guys - none the least of which is Eklund. So you can strike that off for sure.

Exactly what the Caps need...more offense. Their GM is a dolt, they are going to get shredded in the playoffs again unless they get their D together.

Great for Chicago. I read "Spector's" rumours and he's been shooting down ATL/CHI speculation for a few days now. Must be something to it.

And they fit Kovy's salary in there how? I figure for any new team he's going to cost more. So upwards of $8 per. I only see $6 or so going the other way. I wouldn't take Barker as a key piece for Kovy. I'd insist on Seabrook and Versteeg. This is a premier sniper we are talking about here.

Can't really remember it all. Just random trade rumours. One of them was 'suggested' by THN - Phaneuf for Spezza. Stuff like that.

Selon le Ottawa Sun, le Canadien de Montréal avait demandé Jeff Carter en retour de Jaroslav Halak en décembre dernier. Les Flyers, à la recherche d'un gardien de but numéro un, aurait refusé sur-le-champ.
Par contre, Jaroslav Halak fait des miracles depuis cette date et représente maintennat l'un des meilleurs gardiens de la LNH.
Les Flyers seraient revenus à la charge dans les derniers jours. Le dg Paul Holmgren serait maintennat beaucoup plus agressif sur le marché et aurait fait d'Halak sa priorité.
Philadelphie serait prêt à donner Scott Hartnell et Claude Giroux en retour du gardien slovaque.
Bob Gainey, lui, n'est pas pressé et resterait sur ses positions: Jeff Carter ou rien.

basicaly gainey wanted carter in exchange for halak. flyers refused and now apparantly the flyers have offered hartnell and giroux for halak rumours of the week - Page 5 979131 and gainey refused he wants carter rumours of the week - Page 5 260269 . no way halak is worth carter, let alone hartnell and giroux(cap wise it doesn't work). but i would think that if there was a trade to be made giroux OR hartnell would be enough to get halak outta MTL....

On affirme que la valeur du Slovaque a monté en flèche depuis ses performances exceptionnelles et qu'il ne fait maintenant plus aucun doute qu'il représente un gardien numéro un de premier plan.
Le quotidien affirme que le Canadien serait intéressé à l'attaquant québécois David Perron.
Les Blues, eux, ont un besoin urgent devant le filet avec les vétérans Tu Conklin et Chris Mason qui ne font pas le travail. St-Louis seraient prêt à donner beaucoup pour obtenir Halak.
Le CH et les Blues auraient déjà eu des discussions à ce sujet. Bob Gainey aurait le beau jeu dans les négociations car pour l'instant, il ne ressent pas un sentiment d'urgence et veut être patient... contrairement aux Blues...

i could kind of see it, especially if the blues are desperate. MTL will sit on halak and continue playing him as his stock is rising... my guess he's gone before the trade deadline. perron, a francophone, would be loved in montreal...
