Except Frolov's an upcoming UFA and I doubt Waddell wants that coming back. This is gonna be incredibly tricky IMO, Waddell has a big chance to either sign this big guy - or reshape his team once and for all. He's done a great job RECENTLY, but this defines whether he keeps his job or not (again IMO).

As for Semin - how can he be traded in the off-season, he's a UFA? At most, he'd get a minimal, J-Bo-like return.

Greene - 5.25
Semin - 6.3
Backstrom - 6.3

That's 27.35M tied up in 4 players. That's almost half the cap. Yes, it is a lot, and yeah, Washington would probably not want that situation, but it is doable if they fill out the team with cheap contracts.

I think they can get them for less than that if they're RFAs, but yeah, theoretically they could do that. What about Laich? Varlamov? Guys that really fill in the roster? It's gonna be a pinch to see how they do all of this.

I have said before on here, I think when I first joined that JBo could be the most overrated Dman in the league. Since Minor Bantam he has only led a team of his to the playoffs only once. and even then he was traded to a playoff team at the deadline. Once finally in the playoffs how did he do you ask? 18 games and 0 (ZERO) points. Most over rated in the league.

So basically, almost 15 years of hockey and 0 playoff points. Calgary is my fav team and Ottawa is my second, I want JBo off of calgary, but not going to ottawa

If you watch him play you know he is good, even if he gets 0 poitns all year it doesn`t matter.

PHEW! Because I have only missed 3 Calgary games all year and seen 5 games live.

If you watch all their games and still think he sucks, I don`t know what to tell you^^.
If you wanna talk about stats:
- only 3 less points than Phaneuf, who is supposed to be the scoring machine, and who is worse on the defensive game
- +7, 2nd on the team on +/-
- leads the team in ice time
- He's probably gonna get playoff points this season, does that make him a better player?

Oh I know the stats. Nowhere near worth the money he is getting paid. But you can say that about a lot of guys. Take the overrated JBo and get Calgary some depth. Just my opinion

18 games? Sounds like a pretty successful playoff outing for the team. I wouldn't mind it a bit if we played 18 playoff games and, say, Kuba had zero points through that stretch.

He's a little overrated yeah, but the speed element is a big one and the first pass is incredible as well.

But yeah, he's got a lot of proving to do.

Excellent point right here. I was one of the advocates for Ottawa getting him, but he just hasn't proven he is a #1 guy. He might play well, but really for that money, he needs to put up 50-60 points consistently. I mean, for the most part, Phillips plays a good game. Is he worth $6+? Again, Picard is producing as effectively as him. Is he worth $6+?

I mean, perhaps he was a product of a poor team. I'm not saying he isn't good, he just might not be $6+ good.

Phaneuf is worse and is no much better on the scoring sheet, paid as much.
Of course Jbo is overpaid, he was a UFA signing. Doesn't mean he's not good or that CAlgary could have found a better player at that price.

Bottom line, the team is pretty good and is deep at all positions.
