Yeah, that's true. Our RWs look like: Alfredsson, Shannon, Neil, Cheechoo, so we could use an upgrade there for sure.

As for our D, we need a capable number one D-man to replace Kuba. But there's no chance that comes any time soon I don't think. It'll hurt us at some point, but right now it looks like everyone's banding together pretty well.

Let's just say that an upgrade to our wingers is the easier fix. How about that?

Getting a winger would be easier but I'm still afraid to go into the playoffs with this D group. Of course I thought the same thing in 06/07 with Meszaros and Redden and we still managed to reach the finals so who knows? Saprykin = WIN?

Just on paper, here are the D's that I think are better or equally good as Ottawa in the East:

- Atlanta
- Boston
- Florida
- Montreal
- New Jersey (arguable)
- Rangers (not sure)
- Philadelphie
- Pittsburg
- Toronto
- Washington

A lot of those players have underachieved this year though.

The only way we make that big splash would be by swapping Spezza for a that #1 D. I can't see any other way that wouldn't hurt us in the long run. Then it becomes fairly easy to package a spare D with a forward to upgrade the wing. Unless you settle for and can acquire Seidenberg for a bundle of lesser pieces?

Personally I'm intrigued, not too mention he's a UFA at year's end.

I always thought Murray would get him at the deadline. That was my guess, but obviously Cheechoo would have to go the other way - and someone else to make the $$ work.

Yeah, I thought the same. I like Shannon and unlike Whitney, it's 700K to re-sign him.
