Les Canucks de Vancouver seraient grandement intéressés à l'attaquant des Blues de St-Louis, David Backes.

Rappelons que voilà quelques années, les Cancuks avaient tenté de "voler" Backes aux Blues en lui soumettant une offre lorsqu'il était joueur autonome avec compensation, mais les Blues avaient répliqué en égalisant cette offre.

Selon le Globe and Mail, le directeur général des Cancuks, Mike Gillis, était présent au dernier match des Blues; Il aurait ensuite rencontré le dg de St-Louis, Larry Pleau, pendant plus d'une heure.

Backes connaît une saison difficile, revendiquant 10 buts et 17 passes en 49 matchs. Il avait pourtant marqué 31 bust et amassé 23 passes en 82 matchs en 2008-2009. Ce dernier a été laissé de côté lors du match contre le Canadien mercredi dernier, ce qui a alimenté les rumeurs.

Can't see STL moving Backes, for any reason... it would start with C. Schneider and a pick, I guess... but don't think STL would seriously consider it, tho'.

I don't know - from what I understand St.Louis wouldn't move him.

Backes is next in line for the Captaincy, I would pretty much guarantee. No reason for the Blues to trade him. If anything they'd want to improve the team by addition, not subtraction. Sure, he would get you some pieces you might need elsewhere, but surely you can do that without moving him.

It's no secret he wants to stay in the West close to his family so I wonder where (if) he'll go.

He'll go. Edmonton WILL trade him to increase their cap space. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go to LA for a prospect (Teubert) and some money back (Stoll) if LA doesn't land Kovalchuk. A point shot like Souray's in the playoffs will pay immediate dividends on LA's powerplay.

I guess this is the beginning of the end of Edmonton's season...

Stoll would be a guy I would LOVE to have. I thought he was hurt to the tune of his career might never get back, but watching him recently - he's a nice player.

Garrioch is speculating that the sens are interested in a forward. What is this guy smoking? I mean really, with the emergence of Zach Smith, and the crazy depth we have on forward, that would be a waste of a trade.

Sens need an impact d-man. Especially if Volchie can't be re-signed.

Perhaps Murray is sending out the message that he wants a forward in order to make it less difficult for GMs to take advantage of Murray's situation and need for D?
