You're kidding. I would do that in a heartbeat.

Geez. I don't feel so great about dealing Volchenkov. But I bet we would end up taking back Modin. Clearly, they would be looking for a defensive D. So the candidates would be Volchenkov, Phillips and Carkner. Filatov to Ottawa? - Page 9 235689 Filatov to Ottawa? - Page 9 805406

Hitchcake is terrible with young players. Look at the team in Philly and how they blossomed after his departure. I think he goes to the whip too early sometimes.

If he traded in that excess fat for big ears, he'd be Jacques Martin!!! Filatov to Ottawa? - Page 9 235689 Filatov to Ottawa? - Page 9 805406

Seriously though, did you see him on the bench the other night? Sure the team was off but the dude was a shade of red I have rarely seen. I like a coach that scares people but scares them with the stare. All the yelling is crap, people get tired of it quick. It is one tool not THE tool. Bring it out when it makes sense.

I said after that Sens game that Hitch has lost the majority of the team, same thing happend in Philly. The guy can barly skate and he's yelling at guys that do the things he cant even imagine doinging.

It's one thing to be a stratigic coach who plays a system and wants his players to play a certain way, it's another to start ripping into guys who play the game when you have no clue how to actually play it yourself.

Philly made the right move dumping him.

Agreed. He's such a great technical coach, but I'm sure his lessons fall on deaf ears after the 20th time he's called you an idiot.

When Ottawa was playing COlumbus and they had the spotlight on Nash, they interview hitch and he basically said that Nash runs house in Columbus. He is just kind of secondary.

Not unless you know for a fact that you can not resign A-Train. If you've done all the diligence trying to get a deal with A-Train and it's not going anywhere then you consider trading him but your (well, my) top priority is to resign him.

Yeah, that guy is the best forward in the NHL behind Crosby, Ovechkin and possibly Malkin. Wow. Not to keep dumping on Heatley, but Heatley wishes he could be 3/4 as good as Nash.

Yeah. There have been rumblings of a deal involving Filatov to Ottawa.

Haven't heard Winchester, our 2nd rounder mentioned, nor that the Jackets would send some AHL player our way.

Personally I don't get the sense that a trade is imminent, and I can't believe that Columbus would give up on Filatov so quickly.

With this, Filatov could be expendable given that they have tons of scoring, some pretty decent forwards in their system, and he's not a hitchcock player.

I'd expect Kelly, Shannon, and Foligno's names to come up for sure, with Lee, Picard, Volchenkov. So the question is what do the Sens give up for an elite talent who could solve our scoring issues going forward and be part of the core, but is thus far in his career unrpoven.

To Columbus: Lee, Kelly, SJS 2nd
To Ottawa: Filatov, defensive prospect, Conditional 1st (if Filatov doesn't come back from the KHL)

???

I think this could get very, very complicated. I think the first thing you have to do if you're in Murray's shoes is explain to Howson exactly why he shouldn't expect Wiercioch + back for Filatov.

If he allows you to continue, then you try to convince him that Foligno and a 1st is good enough for a guy you're having some issues with. He'll most likely want Picard as well - and he'll be willing to give you Russell, so it becomes:

To Columbus:
Foligno
1st Round Pick
Picard

To Ottawa:
Filatov
Russell
3rd Round Pick

If you're lucky enough to get Howson on a good day.

seriously i think we may be kidding ourselves. i don't think it's far fetched that howson asks for weircioch or even cowan... grated he'd have to fork over more the filatov, but i can tell you he'd try to get one of those guys. cowan is a big NO NO. but weircioch... you have to give a little to get a little.
i like what you're proposing but i doubt they'd want to flip us russell. foligno i can live with, but not our first.
to columbus:
foligno
picard or lee

to ottawa:
filatov
2nd rounder(maybe 3rd)
(let's see what that second rounder can hold for us)

Id give up Wiercoich for Filatov, no doubt.
