You're kidding. I would do that in a heartbeat.

Hitchcake is terrible with young players. Look at the team in Philly and how they blossomed after his departure. I think he goes to the whip too early sometimes.

If he traded in that excess fat for big ears, he'd be Jacques Martin!!!

Yeah. There have been rumblings of a deal involving Filatov to Ottawa.

With this, Filatov could be expendable given that they have tons of scoring, some pretty decent forwards in their system, and he's not a hitchcock player.
I'd expect Kelly, Shannon, and Foligno's names to come up for sure, with Lee, Picard, Volchenkov. So the question is what do the Sens give up for an elite talent who could solve our scoring issues going forward and be part of the core, but is thus far in his career unrpoven.
To Columbus: Lee, Kelly, SJS 2nd
To Ottawa: Filatov, defensive prospect, Conditional 1st (if Filatov doesn't come back from the KHL)
???
I think this could get very, very complicated. I think the first thing you have to do if you're in Murray's shoes is explain to Howson exactly why he shouldn't expect Wiercioch + back for Filatov.
If he allows you to continue, then you try to convince him that Foligno and a 1st is good enough for a guy you're having some issues with. He'll most likely want Picard as well - and he'll be willing to give you Russell, so it becomes:
To Columbus:
Foligno
1st Round Pick
Picard
To Ottawa:
Filatov
Russell
3rd Round Pick
If you're lucky enough to get Howson on a good day.

seriously i think we may be kidding ourselves. i don't think it's far fetched that howson asks for weircioch or even cowan... grated he'd have to fork over more the filatov, but i can tell you he'd try to get one of those guys. cowan is a big NO NO. but weircioch... you have to give a little to get a little.
i like what you're proposing but i doubt they'd want to flip us russell. foligno i can live with, but not our first.
to columbus:
foligno
picard or lee
to ottawa:
filatov
2nd rounder(maybe 3rd)
(let's see what that second rounder can hold for us)
