DW, I think the answer is already pretty obvious for that 1st question. Of course he would have accepted a deal to SJ even if it was the only option. And, of course, he won't say it.

Thing is, I think his role would even be more diminished on the Sharks. How quick would he ask for a trade.

I think it's clear, we can stop talking trade for him because he's going nowhere. From Murray's comments, he's already begun damage control on the team and intends to speak to Heatley and assure him his role will be one he can be happy with.

What an f'ing suck though.

Do you really believe he would ask a trade only because his role diminished?
The guy doesn't believe the team can win again, that's all. But he won'T say it.
He said what he said because asking to be traded because you want more responsabilitites sounds more acceptable than asking for a trade because you don't believe ni the team.
But at the end, it didn'T work, people still think he is not a team player.

Regardless Heatley still comes off as a whiny little weiner. I just want this over personally.

FOudn this on HF
Team Canada brass better watch that they don't give Dany a "diminished role" on the team. Otherwise he'll be looking for a different country to play for. "Well, it's nothing against Germany. We just wanted options. I know that there are other countries out there that are interested."

Wow. So you have talked to Heatley, what else did he have to say ?

hemlock wrote:Somewhere, Doug Wilson is smiling ear to ear. He now knows that his Dung lowball offer is the best Murray can hope for now. My bet is that within a week or so, we will be seeing a deal involving Cheechoo to the Sens.

Murray is to shrewd a GM to deal Heatley away for nothing. Just because Heatley spoke (you guys wanted him to) and made the situation a bit worse for the Sens as an organization, doesn't mean Murray has to deal him. Stay the course Murray, even though I am sure you will.

beedub wrote:You know what? Cheechoo and other pieces look mighty fine right now. I wonder if that presser killed the SJ deal

BMurray: Hi MISTER Wilson, could we please, pretty please, still get that Cheechoo for Heatley deal. FingersCrossed

No way to the Cheechoo and spare parts deal. If anything, the presser will peak the interest of other teams due to the fact that they think Murray will want him gone even more now.

Murray has other ideas.

hemlock wrote:Yep, I made the point a few posts ago about Doug Wilson being very happy about today's events. I bet we see Cheechoo in Ottawa sooner rather than later. The plus side is that now, any offer Murray takes, will be an easy sell to the fans.

Would you be happy with that deal? I don't think so.

dennycrane wrote:This is why I have always been in favour of getting rid of Heatley, and not caring that much about what the team gets back. The circus of this press conference will be passed on to the entire roster once training camp starts, and likely would not let up for some time.

Your crazy. The circus will not be passed along as we have Alfie, Phillips, Fisher, Donovan, Neil, maybe Volchenkov and Spezza looks like he is maturing to make sure the kids know how to handle themselves. Heatley will not be able to get away with even the tiniest slip-up. You walk on the crest in the dressing room Heatley and I guarantee that Neil tosses you into the corner face-first. The character in our room leads the way, not Heatley.

rooneypoo wrote:Careful what you wish for, eh, guys?

Yeah, Heatley talking is never a good thing.

Listen guys, Heatley is an Donkey. But he will be on our team at the start of the year. He will play hard and will be one of the best players in the league, the forthcoming Olympics will see to this. With Heatley, we have a solid team top to bottom with our goaltending being the only weak link. Heatley is not in our long-term future plans, but he is short term as the offers are putrid coming in. Murray should not and will not accept any of them. Heatley will be off the books by next season maybe before the deadline, before the Olympics, at the deadline or at the draft. Our cap in 2010/11 is horrid. Murray knows this. If a great deal is not made pre-draft, that is where you will see Murray make a trade that is not of fair value.

Murray feels no pressure right now and even if he did, he is too good to show it and/or save into it.

he made it worse by confirming that he is truely all about himself and not the team as he said by saying the diminished role is his biggest problem it is showing he is not a team player despite saying he is

I think just because some low ball offers will come in now. Murray will laugh them off, so it really is a neutral situation/interview. You are right, status quo.

before he said anything that confirmed he is a dillhole it was just kinda assumed and could have been written off as personal issues and not thinking that he was all about himself but by talking today and confirming it teams have to now look and see knowing he definitely is about himself he now makes it more difficult with concrete evidence that all he cares about is that he gets his
