Nah, I don't like that one. That's quantity for quality there. A future #4 defenceman, a future second line forward and the 16th/17th over-all?

Pass. To get Heatley, we're talking one of Oshie/Berglund/Petro/Boyes. Otherwise I'm pretty sure we could get a better deal elsewhere.

That makes me very excited. I knew it was the case, but it's like Asq is the BS detector from time to time. I was expecting a Penner, 1st round - and we'd be lucky. :^^^^:

I'm probably more disconnected than you are. But if we get Penner and a first rounder I want Murray gone. 🇬🇬

Although I like the idea of another top-10 pick.

IF Murray has to take back salary from Edmonton, and having the history with PEnner he does, he could very well be alright on a line with Alfi and Spezza. There would have to A LOT more ocming back obviously than just a 1st rounder.

one of those change of scenery scenarios eh, much like Heatley is probably hoping for, either way, Eberle better be included as a name on that deal, penner and the 1st is not enough, you said it perfectly.

I also fear the hold-out. If Heatley doesn't go ahead and waive his NTC then we might have limited options and be forced to hold on to him. It's a very real possibility and I could totally see Heatley doing it.

I'm sorry, I'm an arsehole sometimes, but one way or another we WILL trade you. You can diddling rot in hell for all I care, but one thing you CANNOT do is hold out. It breaches the contract and there would be massive problems to accompany that.

Penner and a 1st was totally made up by me there, disregard it.

He clearly is done in Ottawa......clearly!!! So I'm sure if he is not dealt by training camp then he will not show up for it.

Another possibility is that Heatley doesn't budge and we have to settle for s**t!!!

Well taking Penner back is a serious possibility if there are salary issues. If you put him in a similar situation like he had in Anahiem with Alfi and Spezza, you might get some decent production out of him.

That would be totally dependant on The Sens getting back the 10th overall, Eberle, Gagne, and perhaps Gilbert. Maybe send Lee or Picard the other way.

If we take Fat Penner, I want a package like that ^. All happiness.

Thats exactly what it would be based on. Penner put with Alfi and Spezza MIGHT work. Obvious things have to happen, but if they did Penner could fit in with the righr work ethic and a fresh start with a new coach and the GM that brought him into the league.

I am okay with Picard or Lee going back the other way in that type of a deal, maybe even Bell, all depending on which of the 3 they wanted. riding on the bikes after games for interviews might make Fat Penner not so fat, plus Clouston could be a slave driver like that.

I'd rather avoid a guy like Penner. It's too much of an "if."

"If" he improves his work ethic on the ice, and "if" he gets in better shape, and "if" he gels with Spezza and Alfredsson, and "if" he proves not to be a one year wonder, he's still not even close to Heatley.

true enough, but anything we do get in a package deal won't be close to heatley right away anyway, unless we get pleasantly surprised, and if we did, would love it, but going to be realistic, Murray is going to treat this deal more for future/long term building, not right away, this team is not ready to make that step into the Elite of the East again yet, but things are falling more into place then they were.

read this off the Ottawa Sun website, do they do this just to involve the Rangers into everything?

The Rangers would like to move either Chris Drury or Scott Gomez and would also likely make a call on Heatley

And I'm sure the Sens would like to add Nick Lidstrom.

Anyone can "call" a trade if you throw enough names and scenarios out there.

I just can't see the Rags moving either of those two contracts or the Wendy Redden contract. They are literally going to have to sweeten the deal almost to the point of absurdity.

That wouldnt be the point of the trade, Penner is simply a salary dump that could work out for the sens with some luck. Not the real part of the deal.
