This wasn't the guy I expected to see out of here, but, one of them had to go.

Make a pitch for Hossa. Get as many pieces as possible for Heatley (quality guys)

We need guys that WANT to be here, Heatley clearly does not. He showed it all last season too.

Bingo.

Our goaltending is set for the next decade perhaps, we have Spezza, who now is FORCED to be more mature and a leader, absolutly forced to and Heatley leaving will make him a better player. Who knows who we add through free agency.

This is a great day for Ottawa.

N4L,

You and I butt heads all the time, but am I hearing you right. You believe that Spezza would be a better player than he is now if Heatley leaves?

That sounds like an endorsement, or at least as much of an endorsment as I've ever heard you give him.

If that's the case, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with you. I think Heatley going goes a long way to helping the morale of this team and forcing Spezza to be a better player/learder/man. I'm not sure you'd get Tuebert/Frolov, and LA's first for Heatley, but if that's the offer then Murray should be fired for even thinking about it.

IVe said, from day 1, that all things being equal, I deal Heatley. I cant stand Spezza's game at this point but trading Heatley is basically like hanging Spezza over the edge of a building, he can fight for his life or die.

It was always about what was best for Ottawa with me, always, and getting the biggest cap hit off the books allows Ottawa more breathing room than ever thought possible.

Look for Edmonton to be a MAJOR player in this trade...

Or Maybe Vancouver or Chicago...both need that winger...chicago if Havlat goes

Because of Heatleys contract he maybe more desireable than Mr. Vinnie in TB.

If its LA. I am thinking Frolov or Brown, 2009 1st, Teubert. I might even consider taking both Frolov and Brown since Frolov is a UFA at seasons end.

Nashville also has the cap space so what about Weber, 1st, Pickard, and the rights to Radulov.

Edmonton could also be a destination. What about Cog's or Gagner, Souray or Gilbert, a 1st and Stortini or Plante.

The Sharks are another who could offer up a decent package but it may require taking on some mid range contracts like Michalek and Vlasic.

The Blues were close this past season even with injuries. They have some young players that can be packaged but salary would also need to come back...Johnson, Peitrangelo, Backes, Berglund, Jake Allen, and the 1st in some combination could create a nice package.

Vancouver is another but short of a Leclaire and Heater for Luongo, Beiska, 1st and Hodgson combination. I am not overly impressed with what they can offer especially with Luongo a UFA after next season.

Vancouver perhaps, not Chicago, no way they have the room for 7.5 mil.

LA is still my guess and I'd be willing to put some cash on that. Edmonton like PKC said is always a def possibility.

the only ones that won't be are Calgary, Detroit, and Ottawa (for obvious reasons), so that means 27 teams approximately going for Heatley, but he has that NTC, so that limits a few more I am sure.

Understandable...but Edmonton has been moving the heavens to try and get a star winger...you know with Vanek and Hossa the last two years being their target...obviously draft picks and money aren't an issue for them when it comes to adding the player they want.

I just think we could fleece them for Heatley.

Brown is not going anywhere. He is their captain, best player at this point, and his contract is just insane at 3.2 mil for the next 5 years, no shot.

then that is who we should be targeting, with Sam Gagner being one of the names mentioned, not Robbie Schremp.

Edit: 18 users online, this is definitely causing a stir today, some records might be shattered Cap and SpezDispenser.

I have never been so steamed at a player in my entire life.

Maybe I dreamed it all, but didn't Heatley commit murder, ask for a trade from Atlanta, we acquired him using one of our best players, when he was due for a contract, we gave him 7.5 million per year.

You ungrateful ****sucker. I hate you with every fiber of my being. I hope you fail miserably where ever you go.

Same goes for LA, and I think they have more of what you are looking for in terms of setting your team up long term.

A top 5 pick, a top 5 D prospect perhaps, and a winger who comes in somewhat cheap who can get you 30-35 goals in Frolov and works the PK, who is also good without the puck.

If Heatley never get over 40 again (which is very possible) and Frolov gets you 30-35, what is taken away from Ottawa? 5-10 goals? With the goaltending Ottawa now has thats at least 20-30 goals better. You're already better. Add in potentially 3 prospects coming back, if you're the Sens you thank Heatley for being a douche bag.

I love him, haha, he has solved all of Ottawa's problems in one shot. He got me to shut up about Spezza and actually back him as part of the future of this team. He could be God.

agreed 100%, if he goes to the west, he will get beat on as the game is rougher out there and he shies away from that stuff.

We could use Vinny for sure. Bring him on down. We have the money now.
