I ended up getting the Sharp LC70LE650U. Nice TV and a huge improvement over my CRT RPTV.

I wanted the Sony 70R550a, but the store I bought from didn't have it in stock.

Damn. I'm still undecided. I thought brightness might be an issue so I had decided in favor of LED. Even narrowed it down to 2 models (Sony W900 or Samsung F8000) but my room (when we rebuild) probably won't be that bright and I watch TV mostly at night. So now, I'm thinking Plasma might be an option. Question then becomes : what is the best use of that $1700 ~ $2000.

You won't regret plasma...I recommend getting a blu ray such as Disney wow to tweak your settings.

PLASMA FTW!

Get them while you can.

No more from Panny after 2014.

So sad, so sad.

I would recommend getting a LG plasma for somewhere around $1000 and saving yourself the extra dough. I bought a 60" LG plasma two years ago (maybe three years ago now?) and it's been fantastic...cost me around $1200 at the time. If you're intent on getting the best of the best, go with Panasonic...not sure what's available in your price range from them currently.

That LG plasma is pretty much equivalent to what I have. Such good value.
