My first thought was, what is it worth to the Rangers to get rid of Wade's contract, and what will it take to convince MLSE to pay him $6.5 to be buried in the minors, potentially?

Toronto has money, both in cap space and in general, so perhaps if NY is willing to give them a prospect, or high draft pick in return for taking him off their hands?

Same idea with Schaefer.

Not a horrible idea - as long as Toronto was planning in waiving Redden, cause if not, that long deal and contract will bite them in the future.

I'm still holding out hope that the Leafs save enough money to take a run at Nash in 2010-11.

The 19th overall pick would be an absolute bargain to get rid of that bum and his salary.

Slats: Um, Burkie, buddy, do you think that since we helped you add another first-rounder and, um, seeing how we have very few picks this year you'd see your way clear to giving us back maybe a 5th roun...

The Genius: NO!!!

Slats: Yes, sir. Thank you, sir...

Diddling idiots. Burke tried to get Phoenix's 6th overall pick and Jovonovski for Kaberle.

They rejected it. Shocking... Facepalm

I don't buy this for a second. While I do think Burke is overrated (ie. he is not the Gm god of hockey), he is still a smart hockey man and there is no way he would consider taking on Redden's contract.

Unfortunately, Pogge's pretty much the Leafs' only hope for the future at the goaltending position.

That could only go down if Gustavsson agreed to play for Toronto.

To be fair, Kaberle is a better player than Jovanovski.

Maybe Kaberle + 7th for Jovo, the 6th and a 2nd rounder.

Then give the Kings the 6th and the 2nd rounder for the 5th, and take whomever of Kane or Schenn is left.

Pogge is awful. He will not be resigned by the Leafs. Burke has said as much.

Burke thinks he is a lot smarter than he actually is. The only 2 good moves he has ever really made were the Pronger deal and when he dealt Federov.

Waaaaay too big of an ego on that man, he almost belittles every other GM.

KLowe stood up to him. No wonder Burke can't stand him.

Lowe is an idiot for what he did as well. Two goofs going at it.

Holland, Murray, Lou, Wilson, Gainey, these are all class guys who will get the best deals because people have respect for them and they do it the right way.

And Burke can control all of their minds with his powerful brain... Vertigo

Yeah, well luckily for him Snow and Lawton are both rookie GM's who might get dooped.

Also, I dont think anyone wants Kaberle or Kubina for anything more than a a mid round pick and a prospect. No one wants Toronto's "assets".

No kidding. If it's true that Burke is trying pull that he's more arrogant than I would have imagined.
