The NHL's draft lottery encourages teams to tank; Im really not impressed with the format. They could learn ALOT from the NBA draft lottery...

Yeah, it would be nice to have a lottery that does have quite a few changes in the selection order. Would make it a bit more interesting.

4/ Thrashers - Kane
5/ Kings - Trade down to Toronto. Burke grabs Schenn.
6/ Coyotes - Trade down to Ottawa, Murray picks MSP
7/ Leafs - Trade up to Kings, LA takes Kadri
8/ Stars - Jared Cowen
9/ Ottawa - Trade up to Coyotes, who take Ekman Larsson

I like, but what would it cost us?

TO go from 9th to 6th? I think a 2nd rounder + Picard would be enough.

Sportcentre actually said that the Islanders have the first pick "for now" because Burke made it clear that he wanted that pick.

Islander will never give a 1st IMO. UNless Burke comes out with his 1st, his three 2nd rounders and Kaberle, in which case he has lost his mind.

As bad as the Islanders are, I really don't think Kaberle is of any use to them.

He'll probably get it, and all he'll give up is his 1st, Kaberle, maybe a prospect, and a public hissy fit to Gary Bettman and the media... That last thing will clinch it, Garth Snow would just do the deal to shut him up.

He better not... I'm so sick of Burke's whining. It's truly pathetic that his childish antics are distorted to some as moves by a genius of a GM.

I wonder if he would be willing to part with one of those 2nd for Lee.

this was more of just a place to comment on the draft lottery, however, has taken a life of its own, plus well, just another of the many outlets to talk prospects and who Murray is going to draft.

Nice, I may have missed it altogether in the first place.

I'm all over the prospects in our range. Salivating for Schroeder, OEL, Kolikov and Cowen. Ahhhhh!

so many choices, its like a kid in the candy store, what is going to give the most flavour, in this case, most talent? what a hard choice to have. Ahhhhh!

Im hoping its Kassian. A mean steak with skill, thats what the Sens need. Anahiem won a cup with Getzlaf, Boston may win one with Lucic, its what makes contending teams tough to play against.

Yeah, I've heard his name mentioned in tandem with us as well.

We should get a good player no matter what, but Murray did say he wanted a 'skilled forward', so he should be on the radar.

Skilled, mean, tough. He will be a better pro than a jr. You dont breed those kind of players, they are born. Sens are going to have to be tough to play against because they will never be as skilled as Washington and Pitts will be. Thats how we will stay compeitive for the next 10 years.

I have a feeling that if Burke wants Tavares as much as he apparently does, we might see Lindros trade v.2

I agree with the tough to play against, we had all skill in our SCF run, but in the end, Anaheim's "tough to play against" whitewashed any skill Ottawa brought to the table. I am not saying ditch skill all together, but more sandpaper, grit, competitiveness is key, we have the skill.

I actually didnt buy that Ottawa more skilled argument versus ANaheim. They had MacDonald, Selanne, Getzlaf, Perry, Kunitz, Penner, Pronger, Niedermayer and a hot goalie. outside of the big line, Who did we have that matched all that skill?

I woudl agree Kassian is mean and has some skill, but the word is he's not fast and doesn`t skate very well.
