I agree. If we don't need to trade the pick I wouldn't. But it is our best trade chip and I'm not sure I'd prefer to trade a prospect like Greig + over an unknown quantity.

I believe our player/prospects are Formenton, Brannstrom, JBD, Jarventie, Gus (three goalies on one-ways...) so if we can use a combination of these players and our 2nd and 3rd rd picks to bring in a top-six I am all for it. But I am not sure it's enough.

I think you can add sokolov also to that list. I’d also prefer to keep Grieg. At least for a couple more years till we see what he is in the NHL. Him and Pinto should be kept until we know exactly what they are. I have a feeling they both have a lot more value than what they’re at now.

I also have my doubts about the worth of Fiala. He’s been good but 7.5-8 M good on a LT? I dunno. I’d say 6.5-7. He’s a winger. And he’s not a point per game one either. If there’s anyway to hold off on any trade with minny till after the draft and FA that’s what I would do. If we can land Giroux then I’m not sure Fiala is a must. I’d be happy with Giroux and a top 4 D.

My question marks are:
- Where does Joseph fit in - He's either on the top line or behind Brown and Batherson on the depth chart
- Can Lodin, Sokolov, Jarventie or Greig make the team out of camp
- Can Pinto drive a shutdown third line
- Can Chabot be successful without a permanent d partner
- What happens to Colin White

The chances of that are actually low. Why do you think that? It’s 7th, not 1 or 2. Sens should be using this first and any other years first two get a player who is good now. We don’t need to wait four years for somebody to be good

I dunno. I think Lodin makes the team out of camp assuming he's not traded this summer.

He's got an NHL shot, NHL hands, and he adjusted seamlessly the AHL. He's also 6'2" so it's not likes he's small either. He's my darkhorse player to make the team, and I think the put him next to Stutzle and Batherson. The guy's a scorer after all. This is of course assuming they don't trade for a top-six forward.

Not sure how "available" he would be especially given the fiasco with Vegas over Dadonov, but Theodore would be a great trade target.

With Vegas being against the cap, they may be inclined to trade a roster player for a pick and a prospect straight up. Vegas has virtually no prospects in their system after the Pacioretty, Stone, and Eichel trades and they really need to start thinking about succession planning. They're also a complete mess in nets.

7th overall + Gus for Theodore?

My opinions on the players I see as available at 7.
And I disagree, you do want players to be ready in 3 years time also. There needs to be a pipeline.
I think we have enough assets in the system to make a play. Including the following years 1st.

-Where Joseph fits in depends on the off season we have. The best thing is he can fit mostly anywhere and be plugged in as injuries occur. I’m not worried. But Formenton, Pinto and Joseph could be a killer line.

- id like to see all those players start in the AHL and have dominating seasons this year. Some might transition.
-Pinto is going to kill it as our third line C. Super defensively oriented and packs offence. Finally 3 scoring lines.
-big question. Depends what they do in the off season. IMO it’s not harmonic. Could be Zub but they will need someone for the second pairing.
-i think white gets traded. Not bought out. I know it’s crazy but I think he’s wearing a habs jersey in September. Too bad, a bit miscast but an NHL player.

In any draft the chances of a 7th becoming a top end player aren’t amazing, but regardless, you would hope they become somebody already established that can help now such as Fiala or Dubois etc. we don’t need a pipeline anymore

Not sure if this has been talked about yet but what are people's thoughts on Brady pulling a full on fan boy for his brother and cheering him on during the Flames Playoff run?

Is it an issue in Ottawa because we are all loving it out here in Calgary!
