I will be happy with Boqvist if we draft 4rth or lower. We need that type of Dman.

Ceci and Hoffman trade options for sure in EDM.
Not sure what we have that the Rags would want though.
My thoughts include, If we get Dahlin, I would actually trade Ceci and Pittsburgh’s 1st (Washington has to beat Pittsburgh to entice EDM) for Edmonton’s pick (if they stay in Farabee range. Then, go sign Luke Schenn and we have
Chabot Karlsson
Dahlin Schenn
Wolanin Wideman
Boro Harpur

I think your lineup misses an element of toughness. I would definitely expect to see Boro factor into the bottom pairing even though I do agree that Wolanin is better.

I am assuming we're getting the 4th overall pick. In typical Sens fashion we will miss the big three. 1st, 2nd or 3rd is a pleasant and happy surprise. 4th is what I am expecting. 5th I'll be pissed.

Can we all agree that we want Washington to beat Pittsburgh? Thank you. Give this one to Ovechkin, he’s actually a good guy and deserves this. More importantly, our Pittsburgh pick would be better.

I don’t care about toughness for all 82 games. Boro can sub in the odd game and also cover for injuries. I love my pairings and that is saying a lot considering Schenn isn’t that good.
If last years lottery results repeat themselves, we will indeed be picking 5th. Also, 6 of the last 7 years would see us dropping at least one spot to 3. I can’t wait for Saturday.

I like that this includes significant change on the blueline, which is needed. I don't see any world in which we have both Karlsson and Dahlin though.

Can't stand Malkin and Crosby. Don't think there's a single Penguin I could ever not at least dislike. Ovechkin is from Moscow (like me). So, yeah, Washington, for sure.

I’m very happy that Malkin and Hagelin are out at this point for Game number 1.

3 more days until the lottery. I’ve been looking forward to doing a mock draft.

That's not correct. He is by far the clear #2. I really don't care what you have to say in reply to this, because I don't respect you nor value your opinion at all, but this is just fact.

Actually Ev, you are not correct.  There are many lists available on the internet compiled by people that know more than you and I.

http://www.eliteprospects.com/draftcenter.php?year=2018&layout=&ranking=Rank4

Svechnikov is #2 on some lists, but not all.  There is far from a consensus as to who will go #2.

I didn’t say he would be the #2 in every single ranking. But that doesn’t matter at all. Only Bob McKenzies ranking really matters. Anyone who knows anything about the draft and prospects has a clear cut #2 right now
So I guess the question I have now 3 weeks after this post and after Bob McKenzie just tweeted one hour ago this:
Bob McKenzie Tweet:
The @TSNHockey Top 15 Rankings, Draft Lottery Edition, will be out tomorrow. Not much suspense as to No. 1, but it’s wide open beyond that. Scouts I’ve talked to believe this year’s class is outstanding.
So my question is, since Bob McKenzie doesn’t see a consensus #2, is there still a consensus? Was there ever?

Sometimes it pays not to know everything and to pretend the same.

I heard they were announcing the draft order in the pre-game show and are saving the announcement of the top-three picks for the intermission. Has anyone else heard this?

Yes. Here is the tweet from Bob McKenzie
Just saw the NHL’s format/timing for Saturday’s draft lottery. Picks 15 thru 4 between 7:30 and 8:00 p.m. ET, picks 3 thru 1 in the second intermission of an 8 p.m. ET game. Huh. I suppose we should be happy they aren’t doing one pick a day for two weeks. 🤔

So not just intermission, but the 2nd one at that. It is better than their
original plan which was to air all 16 picks simultaneously on 16 different channels.

To Lagoon's response above, I think there could be 'consensus' #2 but the reality is the top-ten rankings and the draft order will be completely dependent on seeding. Ex: we may see Boqvist go before Tkachuk or vice versa depending on who has the pick.
Svechnikov:

HockeyProspect: 2
ISS: 2
Future Considerations: 2
McKeen’s: 2
NHL Central Scouting (North American Skaters): 1
The Athletic (Scott Wheeler): 2
The Athletic (Corey Pronman): 4

I do think Svech should go #2 but if Ottawa has the pick they may elect to draft Zadina. I say this only because of the Russian factor which I personally think is complete horse crap especially with Svech having played in the OHL. My guess is Dorion asks both Batherson (QMJHL & Team Canada) and Formention (OHL & Team Canada) who the tougher and more skilled player is.

My own assessment:

Zadina:
- had a healthy year
- played well on a bad WJHC team and was the best player
- 1.44 points per game but plays in the QMJHL (scoring league)
- Right wing (but shoots left)

Svech:
- had an unhealthy year
- played okay on a good WJHC team but was not the best player
- 1.64 points per game in the OHL (competitive league)
- Right wing (but shoots left)

If the Sens do get bounced to 4th they may take Wahlstrom over Tkachuk too.

If we pick 2nd and Dahlin is gone, I hope we take Svechnikov at this point too. That’s not the point. Saturday can’t come soon enough. I want to do my mock.

I think Boqvist got injured in the 1st period. I haven’t seen him on the bench or ice since then. I hope it’s not serious.
