Looks like we'll likely be extending Andy at one point this season. If he has a good one I have no problem if they give him a 2 year contract. Gives hog a couple years to get some games here and there with injuries. Maybe Condon gets moved if hog surpasses him. It's a good timeline.

Very emotional guy. Probably best if he didn't. But I leave it to guy Boucher to work his minutes to ease him in. I'm split 50/50 on if he should spend time in the AHL. I see no reason why he wouldn't start in ottawa and if he doesn't handle it so we'll go down to Belleville to play big minutes

Not sure who will be out of the opening lineup between Claesson, Boro, Phaneuf, Harpur to make room for Chabot. Likely Boro but the D will be pretty soft without him. But I guess back-end offense has to come from somewhere if Karlsson is out? Can't rely on Ceci or Phaneuf on the PP. Hopefully Claesson isn't a flash in the pan, and I suppose Hoffman can man the point as well. Great opportunity for Chabot in October if he makes the team.

Am I the only one questioning why Dorion signs two nobodies to PTOs, signs Oduya, and trades a good prospect for Burrows while Jagr sits in limbo unsigned? Like what is happening? Just sign Jagr to a two year deal. He's a legend. There are bound to be injuries and I believe Dzingel, McCormick, White, and Paul can all contribute in a top nine capacity if required.

Not making sense to me.

Ohh, I forgot Oduya as LHD depth as well.

Are you kidding? It would be the dumbest thing in the world to sign a 45 year old player to a two year contract. He turns 46 this February. C'mon man. No way would I want Jagr on a one year deal either. He's far too slow and would be terrible in our system. Also, he would need to want to come here. Why would he? People need to get over this Jagr stuff, he's done in the NHL.

The PTOs are not for Ottawa's roster, that are for AHL looks. Not sure what Oduya and Burrows have to do with anything here.

Actually wasn't White a bit of a PP specialist?

As for Chabot vs. Boro you can certainly alternate based on the opponent, at least to start. This will give them both some ice time, help to ease Chabot into the NHL. The analytics guys aren't wrong about Boro, but it certain game types he can be indispensable.

Yeah. Jagr isn't getting a two year deal. I'd be interested in a one year though. playing with Pageau, could be good on a third line.

Who's our second PTO? Did I miss something?

They signed some guy who played 7 NHL games and fought Chris Neil. I think his last name was Brown or something. A virtual nobody.

It's Brendan Woods. It's not a PTO with any hopes of them signing the player. It's to have a body and potentially an AHL player.

Sounds like MacArthur's status is up in the air a bit...and some rumours on twitter that his house his up for sale. I guess something to keep an eye on.

I posted a rebuttal to the Jagr comment I made earlier but my PC has connection issues to this site at work. So in short:

a) Jagr has missed less than 5 games combined over the last 4 season
b) He put up 46 points (4th most in Florida last season) with Barkov and Huberdeau out for most of the season. Would have been 5th in Ottawa.
c) 28% of his points were on the powerplay where Ottawa struggled last year the most
d) The argument of him not fitting into a 'fast' system is BS. The Florida system is just as 'fast' if not faster. As well, Jagr is no slower than Ryan, Phaneuf, or Burrows.

So what's the harm in offering him a two year contract, $1M base with incentives. He's chasing records, he's motivated, and in a third line role he's playing against bottom pairing players. If it doesn't work out you've taken a chance that costs less than Thompson who is coming off playing half a season, it costs the same as Kelly who came off a broken leg, and costs way less than Burrows who brings a lot less to the table than Jagr.

He's not going to sign for $1M. He can get five times that much playing in his home country.

Speaking of Bobby Ryan, he looked in excellent shape in that picture they posted from the golf thing.

Who knows. With the right incentives there may be something for him here. If not, then pass.

And that's so encouraging to hear about Ryan.

Yeah I doubt Jagr signs a 1 mill contract. Even bonus filled. He still thinks he can get much more than that. Some team would have signed him a long time ago if it had that price tag. He stated he doesn't want to be disposable and with a 1mill contract he could be if he didn't perform right away.

It's about time. This off-season felt dreadfully long. I have high expectations for our Senators this year.

I actually think there is a lot of parity in the East this year. Pitt and Wash lost some good players and Columbus played .500 hockey aside from their run. Montreal is worse, Toronto should be better (pending they don't go through a sophomore slump, and Boston did not do much in the off-season. I expect a resurgence from Tampa Bay and Florida. Ottawa will be a playoff team this season and should be able to win at least one round.

I'll admit, I expected Columbus to be a lot better at this point. They could be in for a huge surprise this coming season.

TB and Florida are going to displace 2 teams IMO. Montreal and...? Lots of people will vote Ottawa, but I don't like Boston's team either right now - aside from the youth on the backend.

It'll be a challenge for all teams to make the playoffs. I can see Washington imploding at some point too. Too many years of being expected to win and absolutely choking. We'll see...
