VERY excited for Perron, Jaros, Englund, Formenton, Chlapik right now.  A couple of these guys might even finish the year with Ottawa.

I love how my head got ripped off last week for suggesting that Perron may make the team out of camp. Still a chance for him to make the team and be sent down with Mac and Brass out (and now with Paul injured). I do think McCormick will be the one to make the team out of camp.

I don't think anyone ripped you're head off. I said that was very unlikely, and I would say there's still no chance. Perron needs to show he can handle the AHL first.

Don't be so sure, Ev. You have a 4th line that are all Boucher/Dorion guys and McCormick on a one-way deal next season. Ottawa could look at tinkering their top-nine depending on how some of the prospects look paired with MacArthur's status. With MacArthur out the left-side becomes pretty weak and I don't think Smith or Dzingel can fill his void. I am not saying it will happen anytime soon but I think Smith will be gone at some point opening a spot for a LW. Belleville will be improved this season and I think Perron, Paul, and Chlapik will be the reason for it. I expect all three of those guys to get a call-up at some point this season and one of them to stick.

They may start the season with Perron on their roster until Brassard is back depending on how he performs in the pre-season. Injuries can happen. As can unexpected players making the roster (Varone last season).

I really think there's no chance that Perron makes the team out of camp. I think even if he wins the Bochenski and scores a ton of goals, they'll want to see him spend at least half the year in the AHL under KK's tutelage. Same applies to Chlapik IMO. No kid is gonna get on this team without showing himself in the minors unless it's White or Chabot - and even then. I doubt they spend the whole year with Ottawa.

A call up, yeah.  After 30+ games in the AHL or more, after they've shown they can be the best pros imaginable.  Smith and Dzingel are prime options, as they're both bonafide NHLers (or Smith is).

Paul has a good chance to stick with the team, but no one else.  Maybe Englund/Harper, not sure how we're looking on D.

EDIT: Mind you, none of us are in the front office, so we don't know what Boucher and co. are thinking, so I guess it's possible one of Chlapik or Perron starts, but I sincerely doubt it personally.

I really like Claesson a lot.

And Jaros, the name is cool, he's a 6'3" 210+ pounder.

And Harper with his 6'6" frame.

Some nice D coming up..

So much potential in our D. Let's trade some of it before other GMs realize they're not all going to be top D men and we can get some much needed help up front.

Just to chime in. I think it's completely reasonable to expect our promising wingers to go back and prove themselves. It's not like there are that many spots available, even with brass out. And white was on fire in his three game stint in bingo so I would imagine he'd get a closer look than Perron. Maybe if Perron rips into the pre-season like a mad dog then he sticks with the club short term but that's about it. They want to see prolonged success on the pros. Even with Paul I have my doubts that he could stick out of camp.

I think Chabot is the only prospect without significant NHL time that could start with the team.
They'll send Jaros, Englund and likely Harper back down to prove they get the first call up.

It's going to be interesting because I don't think it's so much trying to get players to make the team as much as getting players to play well enough that they become valuable trade pieces

Dzingel filled that void last year to the tune of 16 goals. That was his sophomore season, by the way. 16 is not 20, but he certainly has more than enough chances to get 20. Can White outscore Lazar by 4 to make up the difference? Probably. Can Nate Thompson outscore Neil/Kelly? Probably. Improvement on the PP, too. Overall I expect the offense to be better than last season. However it may take a while to get going with Karlsson and Brassard out.

$30 parking for a pre-season game. Wow.

I wouldn't really bother trading for anyone right now. Just let it ride, get the prospects ready in Belleville for callups and go.

Englund looked pretty slow. Jaros is very intriguing. Chabot reminds me a little of how Karlsson was to start his career, flying up and down the ice. Chabot is quite good at following the puck and getting it back in the offensive zone, so is Jaros. I assume the D firing in to chase is a new Boucher tactic?

That was very enjoyable. Met some acquaintances who are Leafs fans. Felt good.

Chabot was not very noticeable on the first period. Playing the right side was a little rough. Got better as it went along. Not sure I would have given him one of the stars but he did improve.

I liked Perron. Kid's got some fight in him.
