Englund looked pretty slow. Jaros is very intriguing. Chabot reminds me a little of how Karlsson was to start his career, flying up and down the ice. Chabot is quite good at following the puck and getting it back in the offensive zone, so is Jaros. I assume the D firing in to chase is a new Boucher tactic?

That was very enjoyable. Met some acquaintances who are Leafs fans. Felt good.

Chabot was not very noticeable on the first period. Playing the right side was a little rough. Got better as it went along. Not sure I would have given him one of the stars but he did improve.

I liked Perron. Kid's got some fight in him.

Did not look good for White. A broken wrist could keep him out until the All Star break.

You're up 6-2 with less than 2 minutes left. What was he thinking?

Not quite sure I understand Boucher's system. He essentially wants his PMDs on the right and his stay-at-home defencemen on the left. Why not run a balanced defense and attack from both sides? It's putting Chabot on his backhand which we saw him making a few errors clearing the zone yesterday.

I liked how Oduya looked. And I thought the Chabot-Phaneuf pairing was pretty decent overall. I'm excited to see Ceci on the 3rd defense pairing, potentially even traded as a pending RFA at season's end. Jaros looked excellent last night, and Ceci's got some pretty fierce competition from Harpur, Claesson, Boro, Wideman, etc.

I was also expecting a big game from him and was pretty disappointed. I don't want to pigeon-hole him this early in his career but he may end up being a bust.

I'm pretty sure the new Boucher tactic is having a D-man rush through the neutral zone, dump it and chase it already going at top speeds, thus making the D-men on the opposing team pivot shakily and try to chase.

That means one of the D-men (and a forward) will now have to stay back for sure during that attack. I liked it a lot actually, a TON of pressure on opposing team's D-men now - and having big boys like Jaros and Chabot going in after the puck is very intriguing.

Didn't like Englund though. And quite disagree about Ceci. For a pre-season game that means nothing, Ceci looked quite good indeed. He'll possibly be asked for a lot more offense and I think he can do it.

I think White's gonna be on Pageau's wing at some point in the next few years and he'll excel IMO. He doesn't have the offense to be a top 6, but he could be a very useful third liner.

That said, it's unbelievably premature to make any kind of decisions based on a meaningless pre-season game. He was good for he three game pro debut in Bingo last year and decent as a call-up.

I thought I posted already today, but it seems to have gone missing.

Just wanted to say that Jaros looked good, and Oduya was a pleasant surprise. Should be a pretty capable Methot replacement.

Yeah, true. Oduya looked pretty solid. Nothing special, probably not Methot levels, but pretty good.

Interesting tidbit, White had the most icetime of all forwards. My guess is that he did exactly what Boucher asked, and that's why he kept putting him out there. Won 58% of his draws, too. Hopefully the wrist is not broken. They said they would have to wait for the swelling to go down before they can assess. Don't think the X-ray camera cares about swelling so maybe they already know there's no break. In that case, let's hope there isn't any ligament damage.

It's airways that way. Teams tend to play stars at home, prospects on the road. Surprised Turris still not playing, though.

News on White better than I feared but not as good as I hoped. WTAF was he thinking anyway.
