Don't see how that would be considered a Diddle up. You would lose Dion's salary and could replace him via trade or signing. Either way, Sens win with Dion waiving his NMC.

Yeah, SpezD, I gotta say you've lost your mind here. #1, there's no way Vegas would take Dion's contract. None. And #2, if they did, that wouldn't be much of a loss for our Senasnores. Wideman, Harpur, Claesson, free agency, etc.

I mean there is a risk that Dion gets picked up if he waives vs no risk. But if he waives his NMC now, does it mean it is waived for the duration of his contract? Because that's a game changer for him.

Also, maybe Vegas wouldn't be a bad spot for him considering his wife is an actress

It's the same with Methot. I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to go to Vegas

Dude. It's like a 4 hour drive. It's a fair point.

And Dion hasn't shown a sign that he's gonna suck in a few years. That's the bloggers constant complaint and I'll believe it when I see it. He might slide to the bottom pairing at one point but he'll still bring a lot to the team.

Also we had a questionable top 4 before he came. I see no guarantee any of our youth can Step into those shoes and I have no appetite to go through that again. No guarantee we find anyone through FA and trade will cost us more assets. If we want a repeat of this year next, I think Dion, now hungrier than ever, gives us a fair shot at that.

The best reason for keeping Dion is what he can teach three likes of Chabot, Claesson, England, etc. Just like extending Burrows had a lot to do with White.

I'm more scared of losing Dion than Methot to be honest. Remember our D pre Dion? Horrific.

And I'm also scared of losing Claesson.

Methot is better than dion.

Dorion said one of the reasons they wanted to extend Burrows was so that he could mentor White. Similar type off players who get under the skin of opposing players.

Now, of course, you could choose to believe that Dorion was just using anything to defend his decision. Your choice.
