A little easier to understand if you're Phaneuf. I wouldn't want there to be any chance of going to Vegas if I was him. What if Vegas decides Phaneuf is attractive in terms of his skill and his ability to help them get to the cap floor?

Here's my 2 cents on what Ottawa will do in the expansion. A trade happens before the expansion draft - and it looks like this:

To Vegas:
Calgary's 2nd round pick

To Ottawa:
Future Considerations

Vegas then picks Dzingel

I think Ottawa would rather keep Dzingel. I think they might try to get the, to pick Wideman up, maybe someone else. Who knows?

I expect Ceci to be traded. If the Vatanen market is as hot as they say it is right now then we can definitely get an asset or a 1st rd pick for him.

I didn't think that would make sense as they would lose a d-man but the only real d-men worth protecting is Hedman. But I do think Ottawa will need to sweeten the pot with a prospect not named Chabot, White or Brown going the other way. May be a good landing place for Paul
