It's a bit more than I thought too but I am happy it didn't go to arbitration. Nice to see them settle on something versus going to an ugly process.

Dzingel left. Wonder how tightly to the wire it will go. I doubt it goes to arbitration.

Good idea. If he, really, is the one that gave Dorion a hard exit interview (after being benched for half the playoffs) then 1 year to put up (numbers) or shut up.

I don't feel there's much "untapped potential" left in Pageau, but I'm fine with him as is. Can't really ask for more from a guy that has great work ethic and is ultra-competitive. After looking at some comparables on Cap Friendly, this is pretty much exactly what his contract should've ended up being, so that's great.

I can't stand that place. Once in a while I go there because people aren't posting here, but damn...that place is full of idiots and trolls for the most part.

There's a few great posters though. BondraTime is probably my favourite poster anywhere. Great insights into prospects and he actually watches them, so it's not BS.

I personally don't love the Pageau signing, just because it leads him right to UFA. I love the player, he's a guy you win a championship with as a 3C, I would have loved to lock him up for 5, 6 or longer years.

I doubt he would, he posts there quite frequently.

I like the deal for its brevity to be honest. Everyone's contracts seem to end in 2-3 years from now so it allows Dorion to really prioritize his signings when contracts are due. And honestly, Karlsson is going to make $10-12M per year if he re-ups here so if we want to keep him you can't extend these guys out for too long. You need to free up cap space and cash flow.

But I do see Turris signing a 5 x $5.75M contract extension by the end of the summer, and Stone to something similar. I imagine by this time next year Phaneuf will have been traded as I fully expect Chabot and Claesson to be full-time top-four d-men by season's end and one of Englund, Jaros, and Harpur to push for that 5-6 LD spot the season after.

That would have been my reasoning before. But we've seen how he can fit in the top 6 and he hasn't been put in a position to succeed at higher levels on a regular basis. To me he might wind up being the Vermette type player. Everybody though he was a 3rd liner until he showed he was capable of playing and scoring on the top 2 lines. Not a first line player unless they are stuck but could elevate his offensive agame beyond what we see. Well, maybe closer to what he has shown he can do in the playoffs.

Yeah my feelings too. Wish it was for 5-6 years but I have a feeling it's Pageau that wants it shorter so he can prove that he's more than a 3rd liner. But I agree, good third line C on a competitive team.
I don't fear him taking off in 3 years but he'll want to be paid what he's worth.
I hope we can extend both Turris and stone this summer, especially Turris. I'd rather we don't drag any contract negotiations for too long.

I just heard a rumor that Jagr was spotted at the Ottawa airport. No reliable source. Just hearsay.

That would be swell. Ain't it's not like you transfer to go anywhere from the Ottawa airport 😂
