What does he do that Pyatt doesn't do for less?  Better points/60 (nearly identical G/60), way fewer PIM/60 (and neither one is a fighter so fewer PIMs is better), better +/-.  Both can skate -- I don't think Stalberg is significantly faster, if at all.  Stalberg is bigger but it's not like either one of them is a big hitter.

As for Markov, he wants 2 years.  He is 38.  I'd pass.  Look at Streit in Pittsburgh.

I like Stalberg's size and speed and ability to move up and down the lineup. Better than Nate friggin Thompson.

I take that back, Anaheim fans have nothing but glowing things to say about Thompson. They say we'll end up loving him from shift one.

OK then

We used to say that about Neil. Crowd favorite. 1 goal, 1 assist in 30 regular season games. How's Curtis, anyway?

Thompson is a Neil-type player. Younger, probably can still skate. Doubtful he's as good at fighting but there's a lot less focus on that, now. If I had to have one of these two I'd definitely say keep Thompson, because he still can bring something. But I'd have him in the lineup to protect the kids. But if he's centering Pyatt and Stalberg?

Thompson isnt too bad a signing. I am constantly surprised at the people who think we would make a huge splash. we have three big contracts in the next 2 years to get signed. Stone turris and Karlsson needs re upped. we do need another scoring forward but where do we get that justin williams got 5m a year thats a lot of money for him.

It might've been cool to try and sign a guy like Cammalleri to a short-term deal to see if we can get some added scoring (he's good in the playoffs, too) in case guys like Ryan and MacArthur and Smith don't put up big numbers.

What? Did he offer more information? Slide leaving isn't a good sign. Unless it's full retirement for personal reasons.

Tyler Randall confirms my AHL forward signing. Good job Dorion. You don't waste any time.

Am I crazy but I would take Jagr on our team. Still a top 6 that could play 3rd line.

Also I imagine white won't be handed a spot but I imagine he will start omthe RW when he does make the team. Not a center.

When I first read this I was like "hell no" but the more I thought about it the more I could get behind such a move. The man is durable as all hell. Still a top 4 and could play with karlsson .
On top of it it be a great kick in the pants to the habs. But I doubt it happens.

"After two enjoyable years learning about the front office of hockey with the Senators, I'm pleased to pass along that I've made the decision to step away from the game and will take this time to evaluate what professional challenge I will pursue next."

"I want to thank the Senators for the opportunity; it has enabled me to understand the type of commitments required to work in hockey should I determine that to be my future path. Our first order of business is getting established in our new home in Ottawa and returning to Gothenburg, with my family, to visit Swedish family and friends for the summer. We look forward to sharing the details of what's next for the Alfredsson family in the future."

It's a bit odd but maybe he wants to be closer to his family. Hard to tell from that statement. Seems like the org is keeping the door open to him. I hope he returns one day.
