The more I think about it, the more I think Chabot is hugely legit and there's no better time than the regular season to get him in there and get him settled.

Maybe a depth dman signing, but it might be time to let Chabot loose.

We didn't lose Methot for nothing. $500M split 30 ways is a lot more than nothing. What burns is that the league set up rules whereby every club was supposed to lose a player who would be no worse than a top-4 defenseman or top six forward but then sat by and did nothing when almost every club made side deals to circumvent those rules. Vegas ended up drafting a horribly bad team (that will get worse as they trade away anyone of value). They will rules the draft the next couple of years and will be competitive in 3-5, versus the initial intention of the league of having a decent team. This will hardly be fair to teams outside of that Division.

Bah! Whatever. Let's hope they don't fix the lottery to make up for the busted expansion draft.

Is he better than Charlie McAvoy? Yes. Is McAvoy going to play in the NHL next year? Yes. So Chabot will be fine.

He will play bottom pairing minutes and the team will manage him from there. We need to stop over-thinking Chabot. He is going to be good. Lazar and Cowen never had this much potential so them being rushed in is a different story. Chabot also has Karlsson to learn from.

Not sure what you mean Tim. It was impossible to expose Smith and Dzingel to protect Methot. We would have lost Pageau, Smith, or Brassard. All are much more important than a run of the mill d-man.

Yeah like Ev said. If you would have gone the 8 skaters expansion it would have left Pageau exposed. Who do you think they would have picked?

Just confirmed that the Sens could trade for Marc Methot right now if they want to.

Nope, according to Bill Daly and Pierre Lebrun there is no rule in place. The Sens could just trade with Vegas right now. They might try this and wait it out because all the pressure is on Vegas to unload their contracts.

Yeah just saw it on twitter. I guess the NHL just wants to be sure this wasn't a pre-cooked deal. I guess if Vegas can't find a better deal then something could be worked out. I wonder what it could cost the sens? Next year's first?

Because they are all making this up as they go along.

There will be interest in Methot. They have not traded him yet because their demands have not been met.  They aren't going to trade him back to Ottawa unless they can get a better deal than what's already been offered.
