It's way too premature to even say how long he'll be out.

The hit wasn't all that bad but maybe he shouldn't have been so aggressive. I kind of like that to be honest, shows his toughness. Injury is unfortunate

May be too early but you have to admit , the first big hit he receives and this. I mean, people get hit harder in everyday games and come off ok. You have to think that his head can't be far from not being able to take much more of here hits. Also you can't have too many concussions before it leaves permanent damages.

I'm not sure it's a good idea for him to push himself past this. For his own health long term.

What are we gonna do...try Paul, Dzingel or Puempel there? Move pageau up to left wing? If there's any unsigned forwards out there, ottawa must look attractive right now with this hole.

Kelly can fill in short-term but we don't have a left-winger in our organization that can step into a top-six role. Last year that was Smith but we all know his luck (PDO) will run out. Could he and Kelly alternate as a 2nd line left-winger? Possibly, who knows. Far from ideal.

Generalfanager has a list of free agents: http://www.generalfanager.com/freeagents

Tobias Rieder: 14 goals, 37 pts last season
Alex Tanguay: 8/35 (22/55 the year before, 36 years old.

Not a lot. Throw an offer sheet at Gaudreau? Maybe Boucher/Crawford know someone in Europe that wants to come back?

If you get a chance go watch the interview of Dorion after the hit. That is an emotional man, looked so concerned and affected.

As for replacing Clarke, you guys have to be kidding with Kelly. Stone hands Kelly? Not exactly a guy that can produce. I'd be more interested by one of our youth or better yet look into a trade.

I'd trust Kelly there as much as Smith and more than any of the others we have contending for the spot. He's a pro, knows what to do and -- more importantly -- what not to do. Not ideal by any stretch. If they don't make a trade they'll put Smith there and if he falters they'll try Kelly. Or at least that's what I'd do if I was the coaching staff.

Yeah, I saw that interview, he looked very emotional.

Rieder says he won't report to Coyotes camp after the WCH finals.

Yeah I'll agree with Ev. Kelly on the second line is like calling it a day. Or more appropriately calling it a season. Not happening.

If Clarke starts the season on LTIR that clears a lot of salary space and money (I imagine they insured his contract) so we might actually have space to bring someone in (via trade)

If Pageau could play Lw, we'd be OK, but...who knows...Smith, I guess, Dzingel, Paul and Puempel as possibilities. Better look for a forward somewhere soon.

If we're throwing out offer sheets, lets go after Kucherov. I'd give up 4 firsts for that maf.

Hoffman-Turris-?
?-Brass-Ryan
Smith-JGP-?
Puempel-Kelly-Neil

Got some work to do, PD. I'm guessing Smith bumps up a line for now and Puempel or Paul takes that spot. Dzingel takes Stone's spot. That top line RW is a gaping chasm though. Offer sheet Kuch!

Hoffman-Turris-Kucherov
Smith-Brass-Ryan
Paul-JGP-Dzingel (fast line, that one)
Puempel-Kelly-Neil

Who needs firsts?

From all indications Stone will be fine. But kinda makes you wonder why, after Robinson knocked Stone at least out of camp, if even for a few days, that someone would've mentioned something about high hits.

The Sieloff thing sucks. Obviously no one should have been running Mac, but it's pretty obvious now that the guy shouldn't be playing hockey anymore.

At least now we have a bit of time to figure out an alternative.

Were you around when Kelly was the Sens' top-line center for a while? They did pretty well that year. But I don't disagree that Kelly as the 2LW is not the ideal situation. It is, however, one we may end up in anyway. Reider would fit Boucher's mantra of "speed, speed, speed, speed" but what does he want to come to Ottawa, and what will Arizona ask for, in return?

If not Rieder, then it doesn't look very pretty as far as free agent left wingers are concerned. And finding a top-six winger available in a trade in September is a tall order.

They're saying that Stone will be ready for the start of the season so that's not a huge concern, however there should have been a contingency plan for MacArthur this whole time. At some point this season he was going to get hit. For his sake, I hope he decides to retire before he takes one hit too many.

I am not sure if I'd be willing to give up all of our futures for Kucherov but I would be willing to wheel and deal with Winnipeg who is stuck with the Trouba mess.

To Winnipeg: Ceci, Lazar, 1st in 2018
To Ottawa: Trouba, Ehlers

Not sure if this is fair or what, but it is definitely something I would entertain doing.
