At this point, would you rather the Sens had made that trade or the eventual trade with the Stars?
No, that was the package that was proposed for heatley.

The trade that was nixed before spezza going to the stars was with Nashville.

That proposed trade with nashville would have been amazing.

Would it? Patrick hornqvist and Nick spaling? Spaling has been average going from team to team and hornqvist is decent but he's benefited from playing with some amazing centermen.
I still find this return pretty underwelming. No matter how you look at it we got Cussed on any return. God damn NTC's.

I really like Hornqvist. He can score and he likes to hit. He's a great 1 or 2 option for the RW. That would have been a good return. At the time, at least. We don't know yet what value we got with Paul, who could definitely be a similar kind of player. The fact that Paul plays the left side bodes well for the Sens current depth charts, as well.

So Stephen Harper made it but not Mike Babcock.

Yikes, other than Brown, Paul, Perron, Chabot and O'Connor that's not exactly a talent-laden lineup.

My list of intriguing players includes Ahl, Brown, Chlapik, Gagne, Paul, Perron, Chabot, Englund, Harpur, Erkamps, Driedger, O'Connor.

I have reservations about Paul being more than a 3rd liner but if he could succeed at being a top 6 LW it might be a little comfort if MacArthur gets injured again.
Puempel might be another option but he's starting to run out of rope.

There's some interesting names on there for sure. It's not an amazing group but it's starting to look better.

Lenher dropped (estiamted) 40 lbs, cut his hair/beard.

I’ve lost a decent amount of weight, got in shape. I’ve done some life changes. It’s not always going in a straight line, you know? It’s just new choices, new me. I’m really excited for what they’re building here in this city and being a tough year as it was personally for me last year, I really … feel good here. I like the city, I like the people in Buffalo – calm relaxed, laid-back-type people. I want to stay here. The only thing I can do is prepare the best I can.

we'll see. let's first see if he can remain healthy. then we'll see if he's a little less of a mental case.

So apperently garrioch reports that Dorion has been kicking tires on Russell and seidenberg and may be looking to the FA for another forward. Interesting to say the least. Russell would be great on a two year contract but I doubt we're at the top of the his list. As far as forwards I wonder which position he's interested in filling.

I'm not a huge fan of Russell and I think that he's waiting for the highest bid anyway. Seidenberg is fine, we're talking about the bottom D pairing here after all.

As far as forwards he should be looking to fill that #3 RW spot. That's a lot more important than the bottom pairing D, IMO. It's pretty late now too to add anything worthwhile, although I would look at Tanguay.

I agree that that 3rd RW is what needs addressing I'm just not sure if he sees it that way. That said, so far, Dorion seems to have addressed or has talked about addressing all the positions we've said needed addressing.
There's a lot of questions regarding seindenberg's speed on the ice. He seems like a PTO candidate if you ask me. Russell would be fine if you ask me. He can easily slide into the top 4 if need be also. But yeah, likely looking for the highest bidder and that ain't us.

Here's Garrioch's article:
http://slam.canoe.com/Slam/Hockey/NHL/Ottawa/2016/09/12/22666277.html?cid=rsssportsslam!%20hockey

Titled "Dorion: on the right course". Interviewed during the team's charity golf tournament. Well of course he was on the right course.

I like Paul, but Hornqvist would have immediately made a big impact for Ottawa. It was a perfect trade, too bad about the NTC. Even Spaling would have been decent, then his trade value was a 2nd rounder, I would guess, considering he and Polak got 2 2nd rounders.

So basically Hornqvist and 2nd. Excuse me while I go cry myself to sleep.
