As for Lazar, I don't think he's in a make or break year at all...if he doesn't step up the offensive production, he's just solidified his position on the 3rd/4th lines indefinitely.

UFA Brian McGrattan, most recently with #NHLDucks has signed with the Nottingham Panthers in England. https://t.co/fTLJDLCol3

Wow, the English league is terrible. He'll likely be his team's top scorer.wprager wrote:McGratton signs with the Panthers:UFA Brian McGrattan, most recently with #NHLDucks has signed with the Nottingham Panthers in England. https://t.co/fTLJDLCol3

The Nottingham Panthers.

"Sieloff put his injury issues behind him for with Calgary AHL affiliate Adirondack last season and will look to continue progressing into an NHL defenseman with new Flames' AHL affiliate Stockton in 2015-16. With Dougie Hamilton and several other young defenders now with the NHL club, Calgary can afford to show some patience with Sieloff. Unlike many of the other defensemen in the Flames' pipeline, he is almost strictly a defender with little offensive inclination. His punishing style and responsibility in his own end of the ice should compliment some of the other high fliers, allowing his partner to take chances and be ambitious offensively. "
Yeah he sounds almost like Boro to me, brings defending and physicality.PTFlea wrote:DefenceWinsChampionships wrote:I think Sieloff will be our #5 d-man next to Wideman. Hockeysfuture:

Nothing about him really screams him making the nhl out of camp, especially in place of Boro.

Might be a guy that sees some games this year if we see injury but to me this was likely a move to shore up the blue line in bingo and provide stability down these.
It's a bit touch and go with Boro. On some night I really appreciate him and on some night I slap my forehead at his choice of plays. Sometimes you're better off not making the hits and taking care of the puck. I think he's a 7th dman type of player you play against certain types of teams. I think after this season we might have a better option internally than him.PTFlea wrote:Flo The Action wrote:Yeah he sounds almost like Boro to me, brings defending and physicality.PTFlea wrote:DefenceWinsChampionships wrote:I think Sieloff will be our #5 d-man next to Wideman. I think he'll have to prove himself before he ever gets to the NHL. If I was Boucher, I'd want Boro in that 6th position. I've always liked how physical he is and what a punishing, stay-at-home D-man he is. He can't pass, but I guess that's what Wideman is for.
Also not hugely impressed with Claesson, although that was under Cameron, so who knows. I'd be looking at a veteran guy who doesn't have a contract to come in as a PTO and try to bolster things on our bottom pairing. Boro and Wideman don't have to play every night, they could alternate in and out of the lineup and be just fine IMO.

I think Boro does what he's told to do. And he may have to adapt to save his job. I know he won't be giving up his spot willingly. He was the PP quarterback in college, for instance.

Not really. Not sure rieder will be anything special.spader wrote:HFB proposal:

Would you do it?
No, that was the package that was proposed for heatley.spader wrote:Remember when the Sens had a trade in place with Edmonton? Spezza for Smid, Penner, and Cogliano.
At this point, would you rather the Sens had made that trade or the eventual trade with the Stars?

The trade that was nixed before spezza going to the stars was with Nashville.
