I think Tampa kisses and makes up with Drouin and doesn't go a penny over 9.5 fir stamkos. And I don't see why stamkos is worth anything over that, he's won nothing.

I think you are right on both counts. And that may be the problem on the later.
Some club will be an idiot and overpay for stamkos in FA.

Maybe stamkos goes to FA checks what offers are like and circles back to Tampa? Does he loses his availability to get 8 years if he does that?

Benji1 who is a pretty solid guy for sens info, says that if a long term extension isn't in place by the draft, they'll move Hoffman. I read on hf just now.

They'd better resign him but trading him at the draft if they can't get a deal done is a Captain Obvious move.

Just do the deal, they can trade him in a couple of years if they feel the need. He's shown he's an elite level sniper aND with Boucher coming in, I'd do it.

He'll be a UFA in a couple years. The worst move this team could make is signing him for two years and then losing him for nothing.

No need for that. Do a 4 or 5 and trade him if need be.

Yeah losing Hoffman is a scary move. I'd be afraid of what we get in a deal. Unless we are packaging him with more assets to get an even better player I'm not very enthusiastic about getting something that won't help us in the here and now. Would leave a fairly big hole on the top line(I'm expecting EV to have some hater comments on this)

I wouldn't be surprised though if Hoffman isn't too enchanted in sticking around. He might have said one thing to the media but really not feeling it.

Who cares which line he played on -- it's his 30 goals and 50+ points that would leave a hole. 3-4 years from now Perron would possibly be an upgrade (maybe even 2-3 years); but we don't have a replacement now.

50 points is easily achievable by most players you can pick up anywhere.

How did the Sens replace Spezza's points? They must have been doomed right? No wait, they became a Top 10 offense without him.

I don't see why he wouldn't hit 30 goals. He was moved down the lineup a lot last season by Cameron, and for some ridiculous reason wasn't on the top PP unit.

New coach who knows what he's doing with the power play will equal more chances for Hoffman, who, if nothing else is a fantastic sniper.

Because he's almost 27, he scores a lot of goals from the perimeter with a screened goalie, and because if he gets a decent sized contract he will have zero motivation.

I dunno, I think you could say the motivation thing about any player who gets a big contract. I'm not Hoffman's biggest fan, but saying he's 27 doesn't really apply, seeing as how he's a 2nd year NHL player (plus the 25 game audition he had) who's scored close to 60 goals. I think he can score more if he rounds out his game.

That said, I feel a tinge of nervousness about him as well. Certainly a tradeable asset if things go semi-south though.
