#tradedudline.

It was like this last year wasn't it?

Anyway. I hope Ottawa does something. Murray can't improve this team by continuing to sit on his hands and hope that prospects pan out. With Turris and Ryan? hurt, I'd look at this as an opportunity to start trading off players for picks and thinking about the future. This includes moving Hoffman today. His return is at its peak now - a 25+ goal scorer, restricted, and a cheap $$ add for a playoff team.

In what world does that help us? In one sentence you say Murray should be making a play to make us better and in the other you want us to acquire picks by shedding some of our best players?
So in your books who plays LW next year? Seems like there's already a gap on the LW and you wanna trade Hoffman and create a much bigger gap?

Hey it's not just you. This whole fanbase seems to be leaning to messing with this team.

The only way we should be thinking of trading Hoffman is if we can't resign him. Don't let Ev McGuire fool you, Hoffman is a valuable piece of this team.

I didn't mean trading our best players. I meant getting rid of Wiercioch and Chiasson. I agree Hoff is valuable but his future with this time are in his hands and his stock will never be as high. I agree that the LW is really weak. Prince and Puempel can both play and can both be used to bring in a credible LW. Can't bank on Mac playing 70+ games next year.

The impression I am getting is that it will be hard to sign Hoff so take advantage of this situation now before he walks as an FA.

Hoffman is one of our best players. I'm 100% with flo on this one.

Yeah. I personally think e org is making a mistake with Prince. The failure to play him in more productive situation lately boggles the mind. I look forward to seeing him play with Paul. Could see some goals happening.

There is obviously something else behind all this with Prince as it doesn't make sense to outside observers.

I agree, there's something about prince I don't think they like
It might be the fact that he is a douche, and Chiaisson is actually a more valuable player.

We control HOff's destiny. Not Hoff. If he wants more money than the sens want to offer, he will be dealt for assets and a good return. There's no way ppl should be concerned about him being lost for nothing.

Now that Russell has moved, the floodgates will open.

Exactly. To add to this, unless Murray low balls him, he should be fairly easy to re-sign. He hasn't made any real money yet and is an injury away from never getting paid. 5 x 5 or 5 x 5.5 would likely do it IMO.

I wonder if Colorado is now off the list of teams interested in Wiercioch...probably?

I'm tired of talking about Hoffman. I don't think he'll be here long term, and think we'd be wise to deal him while he's still controllable.

The point I am making is Murray can't continue to do nothing. This whole "I dont know if I am a buyer or seller" thing is getting old. You either make a move to help the team win this year or you make some moves to help the team win next year and the year after. We barely made the playoffs last year. It took a miracle to squeak in and lose in the first round. We iced pretty much the same team this year and we're in the exact same situation. So really, how have we improved? We haven't been a great team since Murray took over as GM. He has to do something to push this team forward.

I like the Phaneuf trade but Murray essentially traded all of his contract mistakes, a pick, and a prospect away for another team's contract mistake. Maybe I am more excited for a changing of the guard next year. Who knows. But Murray needs to strike when he can and I fear he doesn't because he's too risk adverse to make a daring trade to help this team.

I feel the same about Hoffman as the majority of you do with Smith. Trade them while their stock is high. Ottawa isn't making the playoffs this year. Not with an injured Turris, broken MacArthur, and an inconsistent Ryan and Zib. I just don't see it happening.

We'll know one way or the other by July 1.

Phaneuf was a real good addition for Ottawa...addressed our #1 need. Good on Murray. There's zero pressure to do anything today.

We don't have any UFA's to rent out, just a few RFAs we might unload for the right return. Draft day is the real trade deadline day for teams in the Sens position. There is a possibility of something happening today, since the GMs are all talking, but it's still unlikely.

I love the Phaneuf addition, his contract fits in nicely with the Sens. We are essentially at the floor next season with the only RFAs of consequence being Ceci and Hoffman.

Dallas was in on hamhuis but so is Boston. Maybe one of those two takes a gamble on wier if they fail to land hamhuis?
Like I said. I don't see him get us more than a 3rd or 4rth.

I don't think Chiasson gets moved either.

Hoffman + Wiercioch + pick for Drouin + Johnson makes more and more sense.

I don't see Hamhuis waiving for Boston. Apparently he is being very selective. Maybe Washington in the East (Trotz), but that's about it.

I bet lots of teams would of been on phaneuf had he been a couple millions cheaper and a year lighter on his contract.
The joys of cap space.

Let's get Hoffman 5x5, 5x5.5 and Ceci 2x2.75, 2x3 and keep moving.
