I maintain smith, wier and a 2nd is a good package though.
If I was the seller on that deal I wouldn't do it.

What about a 2017 1st?
Hey I'd do it but it's about if they do it. I really think someone will step up and offer them a better deal with. Blue chip prospect. I'm not giving up Chabot personally. Part of the reason I'm willing to dangle future firsts past this year is because we have white and Chabot in the system.

Yep. That's why id be willing to move it too because of our youth and because of drouin's age.

First rounders and what they are worth:
http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/draft/teams/dr00007328.html

Going back 10 years these are our 1st round picks:

2005: Lee
2006: Foligno
2007: O'Brien
2008: Karlsson
2009: Cowen
2010: -
2011: Zibanejad, Noeson, Puempel
2012: Ceci
2013: Lazar
2014: -
2015: Chabot, White

Lee, O'Brien, Cowen, Noesen, Puempel: none of them are impact players
Foligno: good player but not a difference maker, IMO
Zibanejad: if we're being honest, Foligno (up to now) has been better
Ceci/Lazar: too early to tell

Point is, when you are trading for a guy, if your pro scouts are good then you are likely picking a player that will help you. A 1st round pick is a very iffy proposition by comparison. So, while you need to have picks you shouldn't overvalue them too much.

Of course if the player you're trading for is in the declining years you have to be careful. But if you are getting a player that still has 5-7 good years left and he will make your team better right now, and this is what you need, then go for it.

Foligno has been better than Zib? I disagree. Zib is trending up and is already more than a 0.5 ppg guy. Foligno had one (of a total five) seasons wherein he was over 0.5 ppg. Zib has basically been at or over 0.5 ppg since he got here, and he's already hit 20 goals once. Foligno never did in his time in Ottawa.

Foligno should be better considering the extra five years of development, but assuming last year was an anomaly (as most would), zib has been better for sure.

EDIT If you compare Zib at year 4 to Foligno at year 4, I don't understand how you could think anything but that Zib is better.

Yeah, no doubt that ZBad is better than Foligno.

I disagree. Zibanejad has been given a ton more opportunity over and over and his progress has been very slow. Awful game tonight.

Zibanejad has skill and pedigree and has done precious little with it so far. He's been given by far the better icetime and linemates (Foligno was on the third line the whole time, Zibanejad was only moved down to the third line because of his lacklustre play). Foligno has grit and character and if he had the skill of Zibanejad he'd be a much better player. Can't compare center and winger but if we were not in need of a center I'd swap Zibanejad for Foligno and we would be a better team for it.

Foligno was not on the third line the whole time, but don't let the facts stand in the way of you arguing.

Foligno didn't have the talent Zibanejad has but he makes up for it with some drive and jam to his game. Since we're living in the present, I would love to see Zibanejad swapped for a LH Centre.

Sure. Would be nice to use zib + to upgrade at the center position. Anyone in mind? Stamkos this summer Sarcasm

They have no kids and she's not currently filming anything, so I wouldn't be surprised if she came down to Ottawa to start looking around.

Edit: She's in Goon 2, which is in post, and she was on some TV show in 2015 (never heard of it, and only 6 episodes so definitely not doing anything on that now).  Yep, she's free.

Post often includes a lot of audio work and over-dubbing. Just sayin'.

Something tells me a movie like "Goon" would not have a lot of dialog for the "love interest".

Question everyone. Say we had to move either Chabot or white Ina deal for Drouin? Who would you rather have moved?

I personally don't feel I can answer that right now. White might come very handy if Zib doesn't really pan out but Chabot might be the heir apparent to take over for methot on the first pairing one day. What do you do?

With a Drouin trade looming as a possibility and the reported price being of prospects that could be available to play in the not so distant future you have to ask yourself the question of who management would lean to trade?

Wikstrand Sarcasm

Half-kidding. The way I see it, Drouin is a guy who was highly touted in his draft year but clearly has shown he can't cut it in the big leagues while the rest of his class has made it. This is evident in Tampa sending him down to their AHL affiliate. He's not a sure fire bet any more and I wouldn't give up any highly touted prospect for him. Plus, he didn't report so now he's got character issues, so why would we pay a premium for that? Let Stevie Y go Diddle himself and his demands.

If there's a deal to be made....I'd give them a roster player that they could use with garisson being injured (weircioch) and a mid-level prospect (puempel) + another potential project who could work out very well (wikstrand) and maybe a 3rd rounder.....maybe.

If the Oilers win the lottery or get a top 3 pick they will have to go with a forward again or trade the pick. I would move 2 of Chabot, White, Zib, 2016 first (if not top3) along with Weircioc for Draisaitl.

That's crazy, White might be as valuable as Draisaitl in the near future.
