Otherwise the off season is fine for moving him.

Boro is as good.  I don't feel like I'm hyperboling there.

I've been critical of young Cowen but I would sooner be patient with him than roll the dice on a Top 15 pick. In a package for something real for sure. But otherwise I suggest patience, friend. Patience.

I agree normally, but a top 15 pick in this draft is a top 10 pick any other year, maybe even better depending on who you listen to. If there was a draft to do it, it would be this one.

Hard to say though, 24 years old, already has had a 64 point season and 28 goals, but the real shine to this player is the fact that he's already basically operating at a Selke rate with the amount of turnovers he creates, the 200 foot play etc. It'd be like having another Mark Stone, but perhaps with more skill. It's a player to look at in a big way, I get why Buffalo wants him so bad, but then again, why would they take a chance on a pending UFA. Strange scenario.

Looks like Tim Murray is going hard on ROR though according to Bobby Mac.
We can't compete with all those assets.

I don't get that personally. ROR is a risk to test free agency, so what does that do for buffalo?

Buffalo is very close to his hometown of Clinton, ON and family is Important to him. That said Buffalo doesn't have much to offer in Terms of NHL ready dmen

How about Bogo?

I don't want to trade Cowen because I have a Cowen jersey and then I'd need to hang it up next to my Volchenkov jersey.

You just don't like goals, do you.

Yeah, but that 3 hour drive becomes 4 with traffic at the border (if not longer).

All true except the part where you left Ceci off your list of non-Top 4-NHL d men.

Ceci is on the right side, and we're set there.  It's the left side where we have issues.

How are we set on the right side when you have Ceci, an AHLer, on the right side in your Top 4?

If only he were 35 years old, then he'd be a top 4 Dman, no doubt.

No, but with patience, developing in the AHL where he belongs, we can patiently wait for that day to come. Patience, friend. Patience.

There's nothing left for Ceci to do or learn in the minors. The guy is 100% ready this year, and the year before that. You hold a guy in the minors until he pushes his way on your roster and you can't send him back. Ceci did just that about 100 NHL games ago.

Ceci got a free pass into the nhl on a shallow d and a cheap salary. He didn't push his way on.

We probably should have paid $4mil/yr for a 35-year-old to do the exact same job and perform at the exact same (or lesser) level, true.

Imo we should be adding at the deadline now. Why? Because if we go all out to get the last playoff spot, we would most likely be facing Montreal in the first round.

If if they somehow defy all logic and odds and make the playoffs it would be with the guys they have there now, no point in adding unless it really makes sense for now and the future.  You don't give up an asset for a rental like Hemsky unless you plan to resign the guy for 3, 4, maybe 5 years and longer.

IMO if they are saving cap room and space for next season they should be blowing their load on Boychuk, nothing else... maybe Sekera is a better fit.

False. But I'm not surprised that you would be in favour of such a move.

Exactly. Young players, drafting and developing, that sh!t is for the birds. Find 'em old and pay 'em lots, that's my motto!
