Agreed.  Legwand is on pace for his pretty average output of somewhere between 40 to 50 pts despite being healthy scratched and having his ice time cut from his time in Nashville.  He can absolutely fetch a nice return.

That extra year IMO is what will limit his value.

Actually yeah, Boedker's stats aren't what I thought they'd be right now.

Would he ever. Cost you the moon and the stars though.

He would be a solid addition for sure but again, he would cost a ton. Also more of a hockey deal.

A second year at a reasonable cost for a proven veteran with steady production? Yeah, maybe.

He went for a 2nd and a prospect last year. A three million cap hit with the real danger that the cap may drop may prove to be difficult to move. Nashville makes sense for cap space, contender, and played there before.

Honestly it isn't even worth moving the guy for anything less if he doesn't want to go.

If he doesn't want to go, him or Phillips, both guys have earned the right to stay as long as they want in whatever role they wish as long as they are capable of playing that role.

The only beef I have and it isn't really a beef is why those two would want to stay (in just a hockey sense) when the team won't be winning for a bit and they have a chance to pay for a cup again.   You kind of question their commitment to the game but I am not in their shoes and somethings may very much be more important than hockey to them.  

Yah, it would be nice to get some extra picks in this draft but fact of the matter is it shouldn't be at the expense of two guys that want to be part of the city and organization well after hockey which is an important factor.

You can move guys like Condra and Legwand up front well before Neil... back end is a little more complicated but if Methot doesn't resign then Ottawa's getting a late 1st anyways and that 2nd for Neil isn't all that great considering Ottawa has 2 already. I think Michalek is also a guy a team might look at and want to grab to add to the depth and at 4 mil for 2 more seasons it's not a bad move for 15-20 goals with a lot of experience.
