Either way, good to see some life but you can expect Vancouver to come out with fire in the 3rd.

Also a good thing they too Phillips off Karlsson's left side.  Guy who has looked the best there most of the year is Borowiecki.

You have no idea how much fun i am having reading this thread right now Smile

They completely came out with no drive at all, a couple shifts they had some pressure but Ottawa dominated after the first.

Phillips part is right, carried forward after that as well.  They really need to figure out what to do with Phillips because he's a complete liability now which is sad because people should remember him for what he was, not what he is right now.

Biggest liability out there is Karl Turris. Philly didn't have a great game but he was good enough to help get the win.

Funny but the Playoff might depend on if Philips is benched or not. Don't think we'll ever climb up with Philips being a regular. He pretty much gives goals away to opposition.

Diddle, this is not hyperbole. Phillips looks done to me.

So your playoff hopes are predicated on a support player like Phillips? More important players are underachieving and they're the ones you need to worry about.

I agree, but the Phillips issue is huge IMO. Watching him tonight was sad, especially up close. Really too bad.

Phillips playing beside the guy that plays 30 mins a night? Yah fairly important role on the team.

It's obviously not permanent and my point stands about the more important players having more of a negative impact by their mediocre play.

Piling on Philly game after game is fun and all but let's be real.

Smith is a huge issue, his line(s) gets hemmed in a lot but you are seeing his role gradually decrease, MacArthur has disappeared, even more so than Turris at this point, those 2 absolutely need to get going but they are not costing the team when they are on the ice. Phillips is.

It's not even about piling on it's about pointing out the obvious. Phillips struggles are enormous and he really can't play where he is being asked to play right now.

Thought Cowen got better as the game went on though. Ceci and him play well together so hopefully they can stick that out.

If there's anyone better to play those minutes let's get him in there.

That's the problem. We have no one capable of playing that role next to Karlsson nightly except Methot.

Phillips playing 13 minutes would be a lot better than him playing with Karlsson.

Just realized the reason he keeps playing Smith may be that his a left-hand shot.

Maybe Wiercioch in there but obviously MacLean has his issues with him so that's not going to happen. Either way it's a huge issue and he's been directly responsible for more goals against than anyone on the Sens, you add in that to the fact he has no offense and brings nothing else other than experience to the table and you have a huge issue.

There is no way a person can watch a Sens game at this point and not come to the conclussion Phillips has major issues right now.

Borowiecki has looked just fine next to Karlsson and better than anyone else has this year. Can he log all the minutes the way he plays? No he can't but he's 100% the best option right now.

MacLean is slowly cutting down his minutes right now and not even dressing him some nights, it's not really a secret anymore that Smith is having his issues.

Kinda stinks, but neither Cowen or BoroCop should come out of the lineup instead of Phillips, but you know Philly won't be a healthy scratch when Methot is ready to return.

Also, WTF Methot?

Methot should have taken that contract he was being offered, because at this point he's not going to get anything remotely approaching that. There are just way too many rumors (not just NEELY; I've heard them discussing this on pre-game shows, even though they won't quite come out and say it point blank). He misses the first 24 games, practices with the team forever, and after one game he's out again. I don't think he bring anything unique to the table to make other GMs overlook these red flags.

Oh, and I believe that the last offer the Sens had on the table is no-longer on the table.

If he's using this as a bargaining tactic, Bryan Murray isn't going to resign him.

If he's legitimately been injured this whole time, we shouldn't bother signing him.

I don't see how any of this casts a favourable light on him getting any sort of long-term deal. I'm not even sure if he'll get a solid free agent contract as teams are a little more wary now of injury-prone guys.

Phillips is going to be a problem until he is either sat out or he retires, he just can't keep up night in and night out anymore.

As for Methot... well he won't play through any pain right now and if his back is indeed as bad as he is making it out to be there is no way they should be committing to him.
