If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. And we did that last night.

Thought MacLean showed some balls having the kid line out there late.  I've been really impressed by Stone.  He's turning into quite the power forward.

Assuming Phillips is out, I am guessing Claesson gets the call-up over Wideman, since Freddy is a left-handed shot.

Debatable but right now it's comparing a jag to a benz... doesn't really matter who's in there, both goalies are playing some of the best hockey in the NHL. Like Lehner, I can't see how you pull Anderson after a game like that but who knows.

I think Claeson would be the guy getting the call right now simply because he's a lefty, but also because he plays a similar game to Phillips otherwise I think Wideman would get the nod.

Don't touch Cowen right now, he's playing really well and they just need to leave him where he is and turn the things he is learning from conscious thought to habit.

This group is going to have some bad games along the way but you can see it all coming together along with the forward group. I hope people stop jumping off bridges like they did on Saturday after a poor outing because it's par for the course with a young team, especially against a team like the Bruins who know how to win in a jam and at times dominate.

Like I said, easy win.

I think if Claeson is called up then Karlsson will have more than one partner. No way you let a kid fresh out of the AHL play 25+ minutes against one of the better teams in the West.

You're probably right. I'm just saying I'd prefer it to leave the other two D-pairings alone. Claesson isn't off to a great start in Bingo, but he was really solid with Karlsson in the pre-season.

Facepalm  He was checking Datsyuk's line all night long

Dude, come on. It's SSF. That was tongue-in-cheek or sarcasm.

Claesson should get a look, but that would be the greenest d ever.

The way Boston is playing, we actually can win this division. Montreal is awful and Tampa has awful D until Hedman comes back

Ottawa has a shot at the division for sure but it will be a tight race all year. I am just going to enjoy the building of what is hopefully a contender in a year or two, love the meaningful games, and hope for a playoff round or two if things go well.

Also the way Karlsson bounced back was the sign of a true leader. He was awful in Boston, he knew it, came back with a solid effort, a goal, and just a very steady, responsible game.

We have some terrific pieces going forward. Chiasson, Stone, Lazar, Hoffman (boy, was I wrong about him), Zibanejad, Boro, Lehner. That's the making of an amazingly deep core. Add in Turris, Mac, Ryan, Karlsson, Anderson and there's a legit chance to win every night.

Hoffman is an NHL player but he still needs to show some more in terms of his body of work but he's trending in the direction of a borderline NHL top 6 player. Once these guys get more games in and with each other there will be a solid, solid core that can do some serious damage for years to come. Still need that stud type D man on the left side though, really missing a guy who can log serious minutes each night and will give you the same results. Methot isn't that guy.

And Ryan and Zibanejad aren't even showing what they're capable of.

What the Diddle is happening to Methot?

In the corner injured questioning why the hell he turned down a 5 year offer that would pay him over 20 million dollars in his home town. Moron.

Hoffman is basically Mason Raymond 2.0.

Hoffman is one of those guys that has one of the toughest jobs in the NHL. He will basically have to produce with little ice time and have to go all out on each and every shift without exception. He may never have the luxury of taking shifts or entire games off like, say, Zibanejad or even Curtis "Own Goal" Lazar. He can get exhausted from the mental toll alone.

Pretty sure he meant Zibby was invisible
