To play with his buddy Luongo?

You guys are so quick to crap on things you don't agree with. Why wouldn't he want to play in Florida and why wouldn't Dale Tallon want him on his team?
Vancouver is rebuilding, Florida is looking to spend this summer. Vancouver wants to trade him to the East. This isn't rocket science...

Why would Kesler want to play in Florida other than for the weather and lack of state tax?

We already know his list, and Florida is not on it.

Make so sense, dude.

Other than the fact that it's not on his list it's been expressed that he wants to play for a contender. We're not crapping on anyone were just not playing NHL 15 playing guess what scenario can we imagine.

That wasn't crapping on anything. It was a legimate question. To play with his buddy Luongo? It's a great place to live in Sunrise, it's beautiful there and so is the arena. They have a lot of really good young talent, good defense and now a really good goaltender.

Not to mention no pressure, cheap taxes, and a good GM.

Wasn't quite sure why Spezza didn't want to go there. Probably afraid of being the worst center on the team!

I'm hoping it is Florida or Arizona where he ends up. Could be good returns for the Sens.

it's simple, they are not a playoff contender and not close to it.

I completely agree disagree. I think they're a few pieces away from being a playoff team. I'd argue they're better than Ottawa...

well then you're looking to start an argument because how the hell are they better or even close to Ottawa.

Their depth is piss poor.

How is Ottawa's depth any better? You're going to tell me we have a good 4th line with Greening and Neil? We also don't have a 1st (arguably 2nd) line right now, our 2nd/3rd line is full of prospects, our defence is attrocious, our prospects haven't proved anything yet, and we don't even have a 1st rd pick to try to improive.

FLA has a goalie, they have a couple decent defencemen, they have some really talented young forwards on ELCs, and a 1st overall pick...

----

On a somewhat similar note, it appears the cap may be lowe than previously thought. Hopefully Murray/Melnyk see this as an opportunity to add players via trade for minimal returns. Always been a big Loui Eriksson fan - doesn't look like Boston can afford to keep him. Good buddies with Karlsson as well.

They don't have Erik Karlsson or Bobby Ryan. They aren't a team that has missed the playoffs in only 3 of the last 15+ years or whatever it is.

Florida stinks right now, you can't debate anything else.

Take Karlsson out of the equation and their D is significantly better than ours.

Their goaltending is better.

In another 2-3 years, Florida's offense will be tough to deal with. We may be better now, but we've got too many tweeners (2nd-4th line guys). They have legit top-line guys on their team that just haven't developed yet.

Their D isn't better than ours if you take out Karlsson. At best it is similar.

You're just arguing for the sake of arguing.

Florida is on the upswing, but you always hear that about them and Edmonton.

Sounds like the Sens are not even being offered a 1st rounder in any kind of package for Spezza as per John Shannon... if that is true it really shows you just how teams view him.  Murray may be over playing his hand and over valuing his player.

Haha. I love this argument. Take Gaborik, Williams, Doughty, Quick, and Kopitar out of LA, and they're the worst team in the league.

You can't take players out of the equation when arguing which team is better. That's just silly. Take Malkin and Crosby out of Pittsburgh and what do you have? You have ANOTHER TEAM.

NEELY wrote:I have no issue with it going into the summer as no hockey is being played.  Yah, I would like to see an end to it all together as well but fact of the matter is if Murray believes his best deal won't come along until mid August then so be it.  2015 draft picks will be in play at that point, same with 2016, Murray could indeed get more.

With that said there is no way Spezza comes back to the Sens next year and if Murray truly means what he says about #19 starting the season in Ottawa it might be time for him to go as well.

If Murray can't get value now for Spezza, he's right to wait. You want him to pull the trigger on a Vanek-ish trade and see if we can pry Collberg out of the Isles franchise?  Sarcasm

If he can't get a good package, trade him later on. He'll have until the deadline, and I for one would rather put up with this than have him be hasty and get mediocre value. (I just had a memory of the Havlat "trade" flash before my eyes. Ahhhhh! )

You do not let Spezza start the season in Ottawa... you are just asking for an absolute disaster of an NHL season if that's actually the case.  I refuse to believe that happens because it would be complete incompetence.
