Diddler.

Yeah shelling out for Methot is really smart lol

He played really, really well in the 2nd half.  The Olympics really messed that guy up I think, because once it was clear he wasn't going to make it, he settled down and got back to the way we all want him to play.

It was very clear that he helped the team a lot in the 2nd half and he loves it here and he plays hard, and he appears to be a leader.  The BS off-ice stuff needs to be addressed, but Methot is a solid 2nd pairing guy - NOT a top pairing guy.

Now Cowen....Cowen's another story completely.  I hope he's our Luke Schenn that we trade for a JVR.

Cowen will be better than Methot starting in October

Mmmm hmmm. We'll see about that, I don't buy that for one second.

He has far more upside, is younger, and already produces as much as Methot does.

If you just paid 60 million dollars for a team to blow Donkey, you have the right to talk to the players one on one IMO. It's not what I would do, but it's Melnyk we're talking about.

Cowen is closer to David Rundblad than Methot based on this year. His rookie mistakes were a lot of "What the $*%*#@( are you doing?!?!?!"

It's like he had a lobotomy in the offseason and then held out for more money.

Not a chance. People need to relax.

Seriously, why would you pay Methot anything more than he is making now?

How much is he making now?  I'd pay him 4 million per year, maybe a touch over.

4 mil would be fine I believe as well but he's going to get a lot more than that.

MacDonald just got $5 million. Methot will be overpaid without a doubt

Produces turnovers, that's for sure.

Cowen is NOT a Rundblad... Cowen has a North American mind set for sure and will play the game hard, it's not even comparable.

That said, injuries and lack of development to this point have hurt Cowen's top end potential IMO, maybe this year was a one off, maybe it's not but there are red flags.

I'm not making a prediction but he was brutal this year.

I don't get the hype around Cowen anyway, if we're lucky he's another Braydon Cobourn.

Sure he can but how many owners actually do?

If we're lucky he's better than that. Coburn would be great anyway.

Just a bunch of negative nancies picking on Cowen this year, that's about it.

You're an idiot if you are actually even talking about turnovers. Karlsson led the team in turnovers. Turnovers happen when you want to make plays.

Our defensemen made turnovers because our forwards were just awful this year, there was no options down the middle. Listen to Methot's interview from yesterday, he basically "politely" said some forwards didn't want to follow the system.
