Some of those guys were fine...zibby proved he belonged, Cowen had a fantastic rookie season, not sure why he should have been in the ahl.

The Detroit model of giving all your guys tons of ahl time sucks

And what's his beef with Ceci?  He's playing a lot better than Phillips.  Why not send  BigRig to the AHL as well?
My problem is that While Ceci seems to be able to handle his mistakes without losing confidence, I have seen way too many 20 year old D be ruined by being rushed. Luke Schenn was decent his rookie season.

You ruin some prospects brining them up too quick.

I would argue that they would all be better had they spent more time in the minors.

That's not an argument, it's an opinion. Cowen struggled after missing a year with hip surgery. Lehner simply wasn't given enough games to get into a groove; the only time he did, he won three in a row then got pulled. Zibanejad struggled with Condra and Kassian as his winger, and playing lee than Neil. He's got goals two games in a row yet the first tie I saw him in the third was at the 9 minute mark. It goes on and on. The issues the young kids have had were mostly not something that needed more AHL time to cure. Too many kids, in general, was an issue. Also some players getting big contracts and seemingly playing comfortable.

AHL was not the answer.

Different players. Toronto market was expecting schenn to be something he wasnt. There isn't much pressure on ceci here. Karlsson insulates him nicely.

The Sens need to move on from Spezza, that much is pretty certain at this point. They can't be much worse without him even for the people who want him to succeed.

Teams in a slump, players in a slump, must love playing the Sens.

They pull the goalie with 3-1/2 minutes to go, down by a field goal. Who do you put out there as the 6th skater? Chris Neil. Oh, yeah!

MacLean looks like he would like to take some medical leave, too. Or maybe medicated leave.

There have been so many 20 year old D men to come into the NHL and succeed in the last 5 years... hell they are the elite at this point. Either way Ceci is built for the NHL game and he's ready, nothing this season says otherwise either.

They need to cut the dead wood and that starts with Spezza. They also need only 1 guy in the net and that has to be Lehner. There at 5 different parties pulling in 5 different directions and until that is fixed then the Sens will continue to have seasons like this.

Spezza and Anderson IMO are the two players that need to go but for different reasons.

I think those two absolutely need to be shipped out. I also believe that they are going to have a tough time signing both those wingers. Methot? We'll see.

They won't have a tough time saying bye bye to Michalek lol. Hemsky is fine but I would prefer a complete change in style.

I think at this point you build with the youth... there is poison in that room and you have to cut the dead wood. It starts with Spezza, that's the move that 100% has to happen for this team to move forward, I can't even imagine the Sens if they signed Spezza beyond next year.

I can't stand Philips and Chris Neil on the ice this season. It's disgusting.

This team didn't have character/identity before. They had Alfie. They didn't move on from Alfie this season, or at least not soon enough. The team's identity now is Karlsson, Turris, Lehner, Zibanejad, Lazar (soon) and so on.

Good Christ what an awful game by Phillips and Lehner. Horrible.

Again, everyone on the Sens aside from a very select few cant find their roles on the team and have struggled. Until everyone is pulling in the same direction and there is a clear identity everyone will continue to look awful. For the Sens to move forward they need to move Spezza.

People even suggesting Lehner should take blame this year or this game or any game for the most part are looking for a scape goat. A 22 year old "backup" is in no way responsible for what has happened.

It's one thing to struggle but when you have an A or C on your jersey and are pretty much either invisible or too visible don't be surprised if the rest of the team don't GAF.
Amazing how lifeless this team is without Alfie.
