2 year deal is a non starter for me. Karlsson, Ceci, Gryba, Methot, Cowen, Weircioch, Borowiecki is 7 guys who will probably be in Ottawa next year with Clasessen and Wideman pushing hard right behind. I get a 1 year deal from the Sens perspective and I get that Phillips intends to play beyond next year so really the best move is to move him now because all you are doing is delaying the inevitable. Phillips will not retire a Sen barring career ending injury.

Edmonton's 2nd would work as well, although if Murray moves Phillips he will do everything to ensure Phillips has a chance to win so Edm is unlikely.

Murray won't ship Phillips to a place he doesn't want to be or doesn't have a chance to win.  Basically Murray is asking for the 24th-29th pick in the draft for Phillips, simple as that.  That played drafted at that position may or may not be anything more than a 3rd, 4th liner or a bottom 6 d man in this draft.  Probably a swing for the fences pick for the Sens.

I would feel so sorry for Phillips if he gets traded to Edmonton.

I see Spezza as the Rudy happy of this team. Raptors have beaten the top teams in the West since trading their 'best player' Demar DeRozan stepped in and has been lights out. I expect the same will happen once Spezza is gone.

New Jersey Devils beat writer Rich Chere has tweeted that the Devils have traded Martin Brodeur to the Minnesota Wild. Chere,writer for The Star-Ledge, says the Wild have denied the trade.

I think you might be surprised. I agree he's worth a 2nd only, but I can see the price being driven up to a 1st.

Word is they want Brodure to play one last game at home before the trade is complete... could he be any more full of himself?  Can't stand him and hope he falls flat on his face in Minny if it does go through.
