I don't think so personally. What team that finished in the bottom 3 has a need for Letang who will be a UFA after the next season and probably isn't real interested in being a part of any kind of rebuild?

Terry Jones ‏@sunterryjones

Sure sounds like Craig MacTavish has a couple of deals done and is just waiting for the Stanley Cup to end so he can announce them. wrote:

Maybe they can work out a deal with Letang. In any case if letang is getting traded, I bet you the GM on the other side would have already done his homework on whether letang would stay or not. No way he gets traded to a team and leaves in that one year. Agents have the authority to discuss deals with other trading partners.

I'm sure Penguins will dangle him for the top 3 picks. But these days its rare that the top 3 let go of their pick for an established player so we'll see. Should be really exciting next week!

Maybe Hemsky, Sens have liked him for a while and would make some sense but again, RH shot.

So? Michalek is a leftie, that works with Spez if you want to go that route. Not sold on Hemsky being the guy though, especially after Mac said he wanted bigger bodies to compete.

Just what we need another injury prone forward.  Him and Michalek can be roommates.

Yeah, really not sold on Hemsky. won't complain if we acquire him though, depending on price I guess.

The idea is to have balance in your lineup. Ok, awesome, so you have a lefty with Spezza and a RH shot... 2nd line, all righties, 3rd line potentially all righties...

Smith, Greening, Kassian, and Michalek are the LH shots up front, that's slim pickings on the PP up front as none of those guys outside of Michalek will be on the PP much at all and if they are they are parked in front of the net. You need a LH shot and that's probably where a guy like Cammalerri will come in, hell even Havlat is a better option than Hemsky and will cost a lot less.

Either way, the point is it's easy to coach and play against when everyone on the ice is a RH shot.

I won't really complain but I'll still question "why ?". We should be able to do better than that. We need a good LH shot, that or we pray that Prince and/or Puempel are NHL-ready sooner rather than later.

No need to sell me against Hemsky, not a fan of how fragile he is. Havlat really would be a better option and he's made of glass too.

Yeah, I wouldn't do it. I'd rather go in doing nothing than try to catch lightning in a bottle. There's someone there who'll be better than we all think - whether it's a young kid who develops and gets stronger like Conahcer or Silf or Zibanejad, or it's back to Greening on the top line, or it's someone who wins a spot in camp like Hoffman or Prince (doubt it obviously).

It's obviously a Hall/Karlsson swap. Murray has had enough of that small fragile little punk.

Point being is they need a LH shot for the PP, it's way to easy to force a team to one side of the ice, that's a big reason the PP struggled this year. Silfverberg, Zibanejad, Alfi, Turris, and to a lesser extent because they were injured Spezza and Karlsson and in the future probably Pageau are all RH shots. Michalek and Weircioch and Cowen are the only LH that will see decent time on the PP going forward. Nothing up front really. Conacher maybe but he isn't exactly a sniper either, he scores dirty goals.

Havlat, Cammalleri, Eriksson (wet dream), are guys they should be looking to add.

How???! That means 50++ minutes between your two top pairings. It also means you need two other D-men who can play 25+ minutes -- currently Cowen is our 2nd pairing LD. Is he ready to play 25+ minutes for 82 games?

Heeheehee. By that logic, Hall is also a fragile punk!

I don't think I want to know what the asking price is for Hall, and I know I wouldn't pay it for him. His longest season was 65 games.

When you have workhorses like Letang and Karlsson, there are sometimes 2 different partners depending on the scenario. If MacLean wanted to mix and match, that's the least of the issues.

Having a steady partner is very important for D pairings; especially for offensive-minded D-men.
