What the...Diddle?
I thought it weird as well he is one of 4 names being considered but the only one i would want he missed most of last year but other than that usually plays a whole season

Again, all RH shots, lol. You think they are going to force guys to their forehand or back hand when entering the zone? You need to have some sort of balance.

Elliotte Friedman wrote:24. The other interesting one is Marian Hossa, who was very good until a back problem slowed him down. This is purely an educated guess, but I wondered if Ottawa Senators GM Bryan Murray might approach the Blackhawks to see if he is available. Things did not end well between Hossa and the Senators in 2005, but maybe time heals the wound. He would be a perfect fit for Ottawa, but that's harder to see now.

Chicago is going to have to make room going forward as well because Crawford will be getting 4.5-5 mil after next year, I don't think you want to break up that defense either, and you know they want to sign Bickell... That's a guy who still has a ton of hockey left in him too and is still an absolutely fantastic and great hall of fame player.
Chicago could walk off with a small ransom too.
Oh man! Want very, very, very badly. Don't be mad at us Hoss, it was Old Man Muckler, who can suck a Richard!
Here! Here! Here! Here!!

Won't be coming to Ottawa. Melnyk will not pay his 7.9M salary for the next 4 or so years. It's a dream scenario which will never happen.

Chicago can pay a portion of his salary. I doubt it will happen but Melnyk does not necessarily have to pay his $7.9M, we can split the cost with the Hawks.

The issue is.. IF Hossa is available there will be a bidding war .. and probably most of the teams the Sens would be bidding with (in way of prospects, players or picks, etc) would accept all of the salary -- who in the hell do you think Chicago would deal with? It wouldn't be the team who wants Chi to pay some of that salary..
I'm really becoming pissed with this budget... and I think it's time Melnyk sold the team.

Us fans have no right to complain about the team's budget. Especially given the age of the roster.

I am not complaining about the budget, just concerned about the ability to spend more down the road.
The floor will be going up and it will cost more just to keep what we have.

We could put together a pretty decent package. Howson said we had the best offer for Nash.
Sell the team ... to whom ? I can't imagine there being a large list of people willing to buy the team and keep it in Ottawa.

Exactly...
Melnyk probably lost a bundle in his divorce.. that put him in a bad way financially?
There was an unsubstantiated rumour on another site (probably not true) that the league had to step in and pay some of the players salaries at the end of the season -- they kept that hush-hush.
They need a new Zamboni, apparently, and don't have the $$ to do that..
All of this really has me concerned that this team could be sold and it is gone out of town..
