Heeheehee. By that logic, Hall is also a fragile punk!

I don't think I want to know what the asking price is for Hall, and I know I wouldn't pay it for him. His longest season was 65 games.

How???!  That means 50++ minutes between your two top pairings.  It also means you need two other D-men who can play 25+ minutes -- currently Cowen is our 2nd pairing LD.  Is he ready to play 25+ minutes for 82 games?

When you have workhorses like Letang and Karlsson, there are sometimes 2 different partners depending on the scenario. If MacLean wanted to mix and match, that's the least of the issues.

Having a steady partner is very important for D pairings; especially for offensive-minded D-men.

Let's get off the Cussing Letang train and talk about things that actually have a chance of happening.

Pronger and Niedermayer were *completely* different players. They were complementary -- one was a small, playmaking defenseman, the other was a big, rough, crease-clearing SOB.

Karlsson-Cowen is a better comparison to Niedermayer-Pronger.

If you have to put Phillips out there for 6 minutes of shifts with him, then so be it.

Yes, it's never gonna happen. Next! Boyle please!

That was the point though, we'd have Methot-Karlsson and Cowen-Letang. But again...never gonna happen. Letang might be underrated on forums, but not to real GMs I would imagine. And I doubt the Pens want to trade him in the Conference.

Cammalleri's only 31, he's a leftie, he's a proven playoff performer, and his production has actually been fairly consistent over the years. Let's try that.

What's the price though? Top prospect= no thanks. Da Costa + = sure.

If they gave up next years 2nd it wouldn't be a huge deal.  Fact is Ottawa keeps grabbing NHLers in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th rounds where other teams have trouble getting guys in the 1st and 2nd.  That's why Murray keeps dealing them... he doesn't need them.

Keeping your 1st along with every other pick with the way the Sens draft... give a team a 2nd if it's the player you want.  If it's Da Costa and a 2nd, w/e.  O'Brien would just be a throw in.

I'd do that without question. Da Costa, '14 2nd + O'Brien = no problemo.

Karllson and Letang would play like 4-8 minutes each on the PP each game so no, 25+ is not all even strength.

What if it's Conacher for Cammalleri?

For sure but that's not my point. Both played on the top PP unit, both were on 2 different pairings, each played 25+ mins every game and each were payed more than $6M.
I was just responding to the argument that you cannot have 2 star players on D playing 25 mins each.

Canacher for Cammalleri is an easy move.  Basically moved Bishop for a 30 goal guy and still have the 4th rounder.  It would probably be along the lines of Conacher and Da Costa but w/e.

I'd do it, but I think we underrate Conacher around here a little bit. I think he might slide into a Mac system next year and really adapt well. That said, I'd love to see him stop diving. Find it excruciating to watch sometimes.
