Briere getting 'paid' isn't half as enticing as he is right now.  4 million should be our max on him after a poor season.

They can't do that anymore anyway. His cap would still apply in the minors. Am I misunderstanding that portion of the new CBA?

If Kovalev can get 5 mill little Briere might get the same from a team desperate for offense.

They are getting a 2nd, 1st round pick to take someone after Hartman?  SOLID!

We need that behemoth size in the future. I'm salivating.

Naw, they need a guy who doesn't give a F***

Well they need both. But I'm just not feeling the Hartman vibe this year. Not saying I would mind if we picked him, just not getting that sense.

But no matter who they pick, won't be ready for a while most likely.

Gauthier would be unreal if he was a nasty player.

My actual sense is telling me Domi if he happened to be available. But Gauthier otherwise. Sens have been asking for Couturier in multiple deals, and he plays like him but is a much better skater and is bigger.

Another guy I'm having a strong feeling about is Madison Bowey. D-man from Kelowna. Excellent skater, right hand shot, poise, great offensive ability. All things the Sens love. A draft riser as well, and you can't go wrong with a d-man from Kelowna.

and as far as not giving an eff, that's Conacher. At least in the short-term.

IMO Domi is the perfect player to take but I don't think he gets to 17th overall... you would need to trade up to land him at this point but who knows if the Sens do or not.

If the Sens trade down I wouldn't be surprised.  If the Sens traded up I wouldn't be surprised.  If the Sens trade their pick I wouldn't be surprised. Wouldn't be surprised if the Sens pick where they are.

I can see the Sens maybe flipping their pick to Philly with Wiercioch going the other way to move up to get a guy like Domi... maybe NJ as both those teams needs some younger players on the back end but other than that...

I can see the Sens moving down trading with Calgary or San Jose and receiving an extra 2nd round pick to get a couple players in a deep draft.

I can see the Sens trading their pick for help up front going into next year, a Bobby Ryan type deal.

No idea what will happen.

"No idea what will happen" generally sums up the draft. Given the recent history, not much will happen, but you never know. Murray has all the assets to be as active or inactive as he wants, and the justification for either stance is already there.

This would surprise me. With Gonchar gone, they'll need a good puck mover out there. Any idea how close Ceci is at this point?

So, what's the deal with quoting? I tried 3 times to quote Neely, but I can't get the cursor out of the text box from my quote. Is this just a glitch? I think it worked earlier.

EDIT: Resolved.

With Gonchar gone yah, the top 4 might take a hit but how good does your #4 guy have to be playing behind Karlsson.  Everyone talks about this puck mover but fact of the matter is Karlsson is going to be playing an average of 1:59 on every PP Ottawa gets going forward and they are going to try and mold Cowen into the big shot from the point.  Do they need a guy who can control the blueline and move the puck who is a LH shot?  Yah they do and maybe that is Wiercioch but he struggles at the best of times with a lot of defensive zone coverage and does get caught up ice a lot... those things can be fixed over time for sure.

Maybe they move a guy like Da Costa... not sure, just saying that it will cost something decent to move up in this draft like all others.

They may have to settle for young Soupy.
